Bulls Enter Kevin Love Trade Talks

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Jul 22, 2014 5:41 pm

The Chicago Bulls have entered the Kevin Love trade talks with a package offered to the Minnesota Timberwolves believed to be centered around Taj Gibson and Jimmy Butler.

The Bulls shelved their interest in Love while pursuing Carmelo Anthony.

I'd rather keep Taj and Butler, these guys are solid players that are key to the Bulls' defense. We already have the right PF's in Pau, Taj and Nikola, I personally don't think we NEED to have Kevin Love

Love and Noah would be an amazing fit, best front court in the league. If Rose can remain healthy, Butler is not that big of a loss. Great defender, but I am skeptical of shooting guards who cannot shoot.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

Why should any team, in particular the Cavaliers, Warriors, and Bulls, trade for Kevin Love when he's not going to sign an extension?

I don't think Pau signed with the Bulls to become a bench role guy. Really wondering how Noah/Love/Pau would work...

Flip Saunders and Milt Newton would be nuts to trade Love for 2 system role players whose best fit are defensive specialists for teams that are competing for a title (i.e. not the Wolves especially if they trade Love). And last I checked neither Saunders or Newton have been committed to a looney bin. More realistic would be a similar package (no not the crappy ones some Bulls fans were suggesting based on the premise "better that than losing him") to what was discussed during the Carmelo Anthony chase where a sign-and-trade was being bandied about. Same way Jackson would have never accepted just Gibson and Butler for Anthony, Saunders/Newton wouldn't either for Love.

There goes the depth if this goes thru, Butler + Gibson are glue guys, very good glue guys at that. I think it will be hard for them to replace that - I guess they will rely on Gasol/Mirotic to be the back-ups up front, and McDermott/Snell to take the reins in back court behind Rose??

PS. Butler would be an awesome guy to defend the likes of Carmelo, LeBron, etc. come playoff time.

He's not going to re-sign anywhere.. He'll tell them he wants to stay there & sign in the offseason.. He's not going to sign ahead of time, he'll wait until he can get the 5 years like every other huge star. Extensions are for guys coming off rookie contracts & guys that are past their prime.

I'm wondering why Minnesota hasn't accepted the offer of Wiggins/Bennett/1st for Love...That's the best offer they're going to get. Wiggins is a star in the making.
Kobe Bryant was asked who he feels is the toughest opponent to guard in the NBA. Instead of picking OKC's Kevin Durant, Bryant went with Portland’s Brandon Roy.

"Roy 365 days, seven days a week. Roy has no weaknesses in his game."

Probably holding out longer to see what else they can get. Wiggins by far makes that deal worth a lot, but honestly: Bennett just ruins it. He was the #1 pick in Cleveland's eyes and no one elses.

I think if they put in Waiters or Thompson with Wiggins its a done deal. No one wants Bennet, including the Cavaliers...

It hasn't actually been made. Wiggins hasn't been offered yet, those reports are BS.

Greed, mainly. Also, whether or not the Cavs have put Wiggins on the table is still not a sure thing (in my opinion). Many stakeholders in that organization have told Wiggins he would not be traded. But actions speak louder than words. They have not signed him to his rookie contract yet.

I don't want Love if he doesn't stay for the next 2-3 years. Keep Butler and Taj. Look for a trade on a second shot creator or sign a decent 3pt shooter.

Because it hasn't actually been offered.. It's been reported that it was false & leaked from Min front office to get GS to up their offer.

Plenty of minutes for all three.

Wiggins is all potential, Bennett isn't very good and the draft picks they offer might not be better than the Bulls'. The MIA pick maybe.

If the Bulls include Noah in the trade, they instantly offer the best immediate package (and the trade for Pau makes more sense since he can now play C).

I think it's all made up though. Either by media to get something new to write about now that free agency has calmed down, or by Minnesota to put pressure on other suitors.
