Thibodeau: USA Minicamp 'Next Step' In Rose's Rehab Process

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Jul 28, 2014 2:53 pm

Derrick Rose is participating in USA Basketball's five-day minicamp in Las Vegas as he takes the next step in his rehab process.

Rose tore his right meniscus on a seemingly benign backcut last Nov. 21.

“This is the next step,” said Tom Thibodeau. “Derrick has handled every step to this point the right way. The last time he participated in USA Basketball, he followed that with his MVP season (in 2010-11). So we’re hoping he can use this time productively.”

Rose, who also tore his left ACL in the first game of the 2012 NBA playoffs, has appeared in just 50 games over the last three NBA seasons.

That's because Thibs will rest him towards the end of regular season to prevent risk of late season injuries. Tom would be more caution about it this time around resting his primary players. Having a deep team will help Rose get his right mentality towards the game. There are as many hopefuls there is doubters. All he has to do is acquire his confidence in his game.

Today's medical technology can make anyone (with financial resources) a medical miracle. I would love to see this guy fully recover. All NBA fans win when a guy this talented can play up to his full abilities.

Some talented players are just unfortunate with injuries. All part of the sports world...I hope that history doesn't repeat itself and that he can have some more healthy, competitive seasons.

Teaming Rose up with Bangers like Gibson and Noah is a smart move.
Reminds me of what the Sixers did with Iverson.

Granted both were injured because of their play. Both Great

That's just adidas hyping up their product.. I think Derrick is contractually obligated to shot those commercials honestly. As Rose's personality doesn't fit in with marketing himself really.

So he won't be playing in the tournament then. Point guard position is bursting with talent for the USA team rose won't be missed.

True - but his game fits in perfectly. When he had that great series against the Celtics as a rookie, and the season leading up to his first knee injury, he was playing some insane basketball. You could argue he was the best PG in the league at that time...he just has to show up to commercial shoots and try to be as least awkward as possible. Only if he can get back to that level ON the court...

I'm happy he is back on the court, a healthy Derrick Rose is good for the NBA.

I haven't seen a "Return" commercial this year. I think Adidas has passed that knowing how they hyped Rose's comeback. It's pretty shameful how they used his struggle as a marketable scheme. :nonono:
