Shawn Marion Unlikely To Re-Sign With Mavs

Shawn Marion almost certainly will not re-sign with the Dallas Mavericks this offseason.
Marion spent five seasons with the Mavericks and helped the franchise win the 2011 NBA Finals.
“It was memorable, baby,” Marion said. “It’s hard to say it wasn’t fun. We had a great run and made the playoffs four of five years and won a championship. We set goals every year, and most years we reached them. And to win a championship, it was unbelievable. I wish we could have made a couple more runs at it, but it is what it is.”
Marion would like another shot at winning a title.
“If I see something really comfortable, then I’ll do it,” Marion said. “Right now, I’m just staying with my [newborn] son and relaxing. It’s only July, man. We got two more months. We’ll just wait and see how it works out.”
Marion plans on planting roots in Dallas even though he'll play elsewhere.
“It was an amazing run in Dallas,” he said. “Who knows what the future holds? But I definitely will be retiring in Dallas. I love living there. I’m building my dream home there, and that’s where I’ll spend most of my time.”

He'll probably end up on the Bulls. That's about the only contending team where he wouldn't be buried on the bench playing the SF position.

I do hope he ends up in Chicago.
He is originally from the area....
And I don't blame him....I love Texas as well.

I think Dallas will soon find out how important a defender like Marion was, playing next to weak defenders like Felton, Monta, declined Dirk.
3 years ago they undervalued Tyson Chandler's defensive value.
I don't think Parson replacing Marion in the starting 5 makes the Mavs better.

Feels like the Clippers would make sense.

It would not be a good fit if Marion is ring chasing. But it would be cool to see him reunite w/ Nash with the Lakers who dont even have a starting SF on the roster.

Come back to Phx Shawn! (kidding) You're nearly the franchise leader in so many categories. One or two more years and you'll have them + our FO doesn't suck anymore and their goal isn't to just piss off their players (just don't ask Bledsoe about that yet...).
I'm still pissed about Shaq. Glad you got a ring bro.

He is probably look for a mix of playing-time and championship-calibre team. Not sure what would be a great fit - maybe the Bulls?

Marion is probably looking at the Bulls, Spurs, OKC Thunder, and MAYBE the Cavs, with a slight chance at the Pacers as well; since those are the only teams that are truly contenders. His best fit is probably the Bulls or OKC Thunder, since those are the two teams that are at the brink of winning it all.

I'd love to see him in the Thunder jersey, Houston could really use him too
