Shawn Marion met with the Cleveland Cavaliers in Cleveland on Monday, according to sources.

Marion remains a free agent and is unlikely to re-sign with the Dallas Mavericks.

I doubt GM Lebron lets the deal go through.

Marion would actually be a great fit in Cleveland. Another vet to produce off the bench.

Why would he not want to return to Dallas? He is not going to get any more than vet min where ever he goes.

Dallas hasnt shown interest in re-signing him. Theyve signed multiple other bigs already. I believe their rosters already full and cant sign him.

Uh oh... this would be a nice piece, though. Marion is towards the end of his career, but he still has some basketball left in him. This would be one of the better fits for the veteran.

I'm assuming this is another sign Allen is done... or at least not going to be a Cavalier anyhow. IF Marion signs that is.

If he is making the minimum, he would probably rather play for a contender.

Great fit if Wiggins and Bennett are gone.

MVP candidates playing the forwards LeBron & Love w/ former all-stars Miller and Marion backing them up and Thompson. Very solid. Varejo up front. Irving and Waiters in the back court. Cavs are better than the Heat were and its not close.
Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!

Marion would be a very good pick up. Cleveland currently don't have a lot of solid defenders on that bench. I could see Marion playing the backup 4 a lot.

Not really. The Cavs only have the vet minimum to offer players. If they sign Marion, they can still offer the same to Allen. Not like they play the same position either. I don't think Allen (or Marion for that matter) will sign with Cleveland until the Kevin Love trade goes through, so it'll be a few weeks yet.

Why ?

If it's about roster spots, the Cavs will open up a couple of them as soon as the Love trade is done.
Having Marion and Ray Ray would help the Cavs a lot. Irving and Love haven't played one minute of playoff basketball, so they'll need veterans on the team. I wouldn't trust Marion's leadership much (he was a whiny baby while with the Suns), but Ray Ray could help A LOT.

Isn't Tristan Thompson staying to backup Love?

I can not see minutes for Marion.

Thompson Backing up Love,
Mike Miller backing up LeBron
Ray Allen backing up Waiters.

Even if Allen is not joining, and you move Mike Miller to SG (which he can not defend anymore), still Marion can only back up James, which means 10 minutes per game at most.

Or is Thompson part of the Love trade?

Oh yeah, right. I heard there might be more players in the deal so I'm not quite sure. If Thompson stays, then he will prob be backing up Love. Marion will probably fill-in wherever he can.

I also think that Kevin Martin pair with Waiters at SG, if he comes in the deal as well.
