Heat Sign Khem Birch

The Miami Heat have signed forward Khem Birch. 


Birch appeared in six games (all starts) with the Washington Wizards during the 2014 Vegas Summer League and averaged 5.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.17 blocks and 19.3 minutes while shooting 47.8 percent from the field.

He's a Miami heat type of player. Skill set is not that different from Birdman's. Will blitz/trap on high Pick & Roll, and block shots at the rim. For Miami, that might hold some value if playing aggressive trapping defense remains their core identity. Aside, Birch ranked well in analytics oriented draft models and also played well in spurts during the Vegas summer league. Not a guarantee he makes the roster, but worth a look indeed.
