Heat To 'Tweak' System, Gamble Less On Defense

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Sep 15, 2014 4:10 pm

The Miami Heat lost LeBron James in the offseason and have also made some key changes to their coaching staff, which will result in a vastly different identity.

“You will see some tweaks in how we play,” said a Heat official.

Miami's gambling defense, which left open too many three-point shooters, needs addressing.

“We can’t just show up and expect to win it in the fourth quarter any more,” said the official.

They can't expect to show up and win [regardless]. Without Bron, they're going to have to dig deep!

"Just showing up and winning in the 4th quarter" should not have been your strategy at any point in coaching, regardless of the team's superstar count...

The title should be: "Spoelstra Actually Has to Coach Now".

Too much over reacting to the offense.

Now, when Spo continue with his winning ways, I wonder what your exuse will be next for disparaging an extraoridinary great coach?
Fact is that momentum in games is a real thing, while not tangible itself, you can tangibly see the effect it has when teams are on runs and how it can dramatically effect the outcome of games when you can generate any momentum.

The Heat certainly haven't lost much defensively.
LeBron only 0.3 blocks per game
What a lazy freak.

Next season may be a train wreck. We'll get to see if Bosh is worth the $124M contract the Heat panic signed him to.

playing cautiously on defense probably won't work out all that great either for them.

They also resigned Chalmers who completely failed last year in the playoffs.

Train wreck potential is high.

At least the Heat will have better interior defense than Cleveland......

I know its a big "if" but if Wade is healthy they are a contender to win the East (but I think Chicago will probably).
