Victor Oladipo Out Indefinitely With Facial Fracture

Victor Oladipo will be out indefinitely after suffering a facial fracture in practice Thursday.

Oladipo, who was evaluated Thursday afternoon, will undergo a corrective surgical procedure on Saturday. He was injured after taking an inadvertent elbow during a practice drill.

Oladipo (6’4”, 210, 5/4/92) has not played during the preseason due to a sprained MCL in his left knee.

I've taken elbows to the face during basketball but only needed stiches. I can't imagine getting elbowed hard enough to break your face.

Well, only silver lining is he can rest that MCL longer.

These are some of the biggest men on Earth swinging their elbows.

Larry Sanders took a Harden elbow to the eye last year and it broke his face.

All the guys that have to wear masks briefly? Broken noses or faces. Sanders will wear protective goggles for the rest of his career.

You probably weren't playing NBA caliber players who are much stronger, faster and more physical than amateur/pick-up leagues. It happens.

I don't get how he got elbowed in a practice, when he is resting an injury?!?

You would think they squad would play lightly against an injured player, so much he doesn't join you in any pre-season game.

Yeah, I can imagine all the guys trying to make the team and playing to get a roster spot. A minimum NBA contract is more than most average people make in at least 5 years.

No, he's been back at practice for a while. It was just a sprain. He was dunking at the open practice on the 20th.
