Kemba - Lance backcourt will compete with the best, for 21 million combined.

Reasonable considering the bloated contracts that have recently been handed out!

I can't wait to see Kemba and Lance play. It's going to help Kemba so much, to have another guy in the backcourt who can create plays.

Props to Kemba - knows where he stands, took the money and has improved from season to season. Klay, Bledsoe, Rubio & co. should take notes.

Its nice to see the Bobcats/Hornets are on track staying a playoff team in EC for the foreseeable future.

Great deal for Kemba but a terrible contract for the Bobcats IMO, Kemba is a bottom end starting PG. Team's should be looking to upgrade guys like that not grossly overpay them for inefficient offense and middling defense.

I dont get how so many people believe in the raptors, they have zero to chance to win it all.

Lowry is also significantly better on defense.

I'm not sure of any 1 thing Kemba does better than Kyle on a basketball court. Shoot from mid-range perhaps.

Charlotte has got some serious momentum going for the front office. One big trade away from being a contender? Their team already looks strong for the next 2-3 years, given Jefferson re-signs.

Kemba follows this up by capping a 24-point comeback with a ridiculous game-tying three and a game winning shot in over time. You can't make this **** up.

It's a bad contract for the Hornets considering Eric Bledsoe got the same and he's probably a better player (albeit with injury risks).

With that said from the Hornets perspective it's probably worth it to lock him up from a sales perspective, they are committing to him as the future of the team and not risking him getting an even bigger deal in restricted FA if he has a huge deal. They've always intended on re-signing him so there are benefits culture-wise to doing it early.

It is also worth noting that Al Jefferson could leave as an UFA if he opts out this summer and it's easier to re-sign him if Kemba is locked up for the foreseeable future. At present Kemba is overpaid but for the franchise I see the contract as a necessary evil for a small-market team that has struggled on and off the court to this point (but FINALLY has some momentum in both areas).

No doubt that you're correct with this and this obviously played into their thinking. But the moment a team starts making decisions based on a primary goal of keeping the fans happy instead of the goal of building a legit contender is always a bad day. The examples of this are just endless.
