Lakers Unlikely To Be Active In Trade Market

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sun Dec 7, 2014 2:07 am

The Los Angeles Lakers are unlikely to be active in trade talks this season, according to sources.

The Lakers had interest in Rajon Rondo in the offseason.

The chief issue for the Lakers when it comes to potential trades is that they lack trade assets.

“There isn’t much there you’re going to give up a lot for,” one general manager told Sporting News.

Not really news; other than Jordan Hill's contract or injured Randle, what are they gonna offer, a handshake and a friendly smile?

I disagree. GM's just like to undervalue Lakers assets, Pau Gasol was a valuable trade asset but the lakers couldn't trade him, Jeremy Lin is a valuable trade asset along with Steve Nash's expiring and Houston Rockets first round pick. Lakers have some one year contracts that can be added as fillers too but other teams GM wouldn't want to deal out of fear of being fleeced by Mitch.

Yes Lin has value. Should you trade him since he's pretty decent and expiring, no.

The Lakers shouldn't want to take on any long term deals. They have 1 more year of Kobe, 2-3 of Nick Young and Randle. All the others are gone or waivable. I wouldn't screw that up.

Clear cap in 2016 again and go after big stars.

Might as well put out an article "Lakers Likely To Suck for a While" and revisit the issue in 6 years. No one cares that they're not going to trade talent they don't have, that they discussed trades with the Celtics for unattainable talent, or are looking into bringing Earl Clark back.

Unfortunately, with Kobe, Lin and Swaggy, the Lakers are just good enough to miss the playoffs AND lose out on a top 5 pick (owed to Phoenix if it falls outside top 5). That is a scary thing for a team that has ZERO assets (julius Randle?) once Kobe is gone.

The Kobe era is going to end with a very quiet fizzle, save for the short-lived celebration when Kobe passes Kareem for the all-time scoring title some time during the 2016 season (Kobe's last)

Jordan Hill is the only trade asset.

They should be at least fielding offers for Boozer and Lin now that they arent in starting lineup.

Laker's FO and their fans like to overvalue Lakers "assets".

Pau Gasol was a valuable trade asset but the lakers couldn't trade him.

You prove yourself wrong in your own statement. If he was valuable, he would have been traded.

Jeremy Lin is a valuable trade asset

He just got moved to the 2nd unit on a 5 - 15 team. He is not a valuable trade asset.

Lakers have some one year contracts that can be added as fillers too but other teams GM wouldn't want to deal out of fear of being fleeced by Mitch.

Other GM's don't want a deal with the Lakers because they have nothing of value to offer.

Scoring 6000 points in the next year and a half would be quite the fizzle. You have no idea what you're talking about do you.
