Warriors Contact Ray Allen, Believe He's Uncertain On Future

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Dec 12, 2014 12:24 am

The Golden State Warriors reached out to Ray Allen, who remains a free agent.

"It's uncertain as to what Ray wants to do," Bob Myers said on Thursday. "Here's the problem: We dont have enough minutes as it is so it's just a question of chemistry."

Allen played the past two seasons with the Miami Heat.

That would be awesome to end his career. One of the greatest shooting shooting guards in the league, Ray Allen, teams up with the Splash Brothers. He'd be more of a situational player not an every game rotational player. I'd see him playing every few games when the Warriors need more offense and shooting off their bench.

Warriors have been stiff at times from the bench

He'd get Barbosa's minutes and a few of Iggy's.

I'll take Wayne Ellington from the Lakers, Troy Daniels from the Rockets, or Allen Crabbe from the Trail Blazers if the Warriors missed out on Ray Allen. I'll even take a chance on Doron Lamb or Jarell Eddie from the D-League. As good of a shooter Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson are, the Warriors need another shooter.

With as great a job as the Warriors do at sharing the ball, adding another shooter like Ray would be nuts! I think he'd create a bit of a hole on the defensive side for them, but I'd love to see their A game when they just rain 3s all 48 minutes.

exactly. neither of those guys are shooting the ball well. i'd even say barbosa is more likely to contribute points down the road than iggy. dude's tentative. he's exactly like harrison was last year.. over-thinking everything on the offensive end.

why do they need old shooter? One who can't guard pretty much anymore. Don't waste you money/time GSW

Contrary to popular belief, the Warriors actually don't have that many shooters other than Curry and Klay. They have no shooting off the bench whatsoever. So a shooter like Allen would help the bench spacing so much. Plus his defense can't be any worse than Barbosa, and the Warriors are 1st in defense, so it should be fine.

If given the chance, and I hope I'm wrong, but I would think Ray would sign with the Cavs and Lebron because he is familiar with the East, it will be easier to make the Finals and he would backing up a Dion Waiters type instead of a Klay Thompson, so more minutes.

being so young, they can stagger each other to rest.. so i dont see how being starters mean anything.. curry can sit with 3 mins left in a quarter and thompson sits at the start of next quarter.. these are 22-24 yr old athletes..

I've lost so much respect for Ray Allen

He's going to sit at home all season, decide which team has the best shot for a championship, and jump on board last minute.

So weak.

It's about the full season, the 82 game grind, the road trips, the tough stretches, training camp, everything... He wants to get a ring while doing as little work as possible.

If I'm Allen this is the only team I would even think about signing with.
