Davis, Griffin, Marc Gasol Lead West Frontcourt ASG Voting

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Jan 1, 2015 6:00 pm

LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors remain atop the Eastern and Western Conferences, respectively, after the second returns of NBA All-Star Balloting 2015 presented by Sprint. James continues to own the top overall spot with 775,810 votes, while Curry’s 755,486 votes are good for second in the league.

James, the Chicago Bulls’ Pau Gasol (372,109) and the New York Knicks’ Carmelo Anthony (365,449) pace the Eastern Conference’s frontcourt players.  Washington Wizards guard John Wall (439,395) remains the East’s leading vote-getter in the backcourt, and Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade (396,757) is second.

Curry is followed in the West backcourt by the Los Angeles Lakers’ Kobe Bryant (694,665). The Western Conference frontcourt is led, in order, by the New Orleans Pelicans’ Anthony Davis (732,154), the Los Angeles Clippers’ Blake Griffin (403,415) and the Memphis Grizzlies’ Marc Gasol (343,587).

no one wants to watch lowry and butler in an all star game. The coaches will vote them in anyways. But as for the fans voting for their favorites let them vote for who they want.

Fan voting = popularity contest. That is why they base it slightly on our input (fan involvement to make us feel like were part of the game) and slightly on coaches/GMs (actual basketball sense). ASG in general is not as fun as it used to be, if teams actually competed instead of letting each other do crazy dunks...it might be something worth-while.

Also, introducing another segment like a 1v1 where two of the best players get voted in to play 1on1 (Durant vs LeBron???) or 2v2 maybe? Just something to shake things up..

Wouldn't be surprised if some of the numbers are inflated to further agendas, especially for the front court players in both conferences.

About 100,000 votes separate Irving and Wade. Still think there's enough time for Kyrie to make a surge if he puts up big numbers while LeBron is out.
