Nets, Thunder Discuss Brook Lopez For Perkins Swap

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Jan 16, 2015 3:33 pm

The Brooklyn Nets and Oklahoma City Thunder are engaged in two-team trade talks involving Brook Lopez.

Three-team talks with the Charlotte Hornets that would have sent Lance Stephenson to Brooklyn are dead.

The main piece that would go to the Nets in the deal with the Thunder is the expiring contract of Kendrick Perkins.

Lopez has a player option for the 15-16 season.

How would that even work? Does OKC have a trade exemption?

So Charlotte is stuck with Stephenson, nobody wants him.

Just an expiring? There have to be other teams out west willing to do the same. Nets should try to pry Lamb away at least since he was in the 3 team talks.

OKC is in a huge luxury tax hole right now after Waiters and now Lopez deals.

Not necessarily, BroLo can't stay healthy, doesn't know how to rebound or protect the paint. So defensively he's not an upgrade over Perkin's mediocre earthbound defense.

BroLo might be a Josh Smith for the Nets in that after trading him they play better. OKC is desperate go for it guys, but it's not a guaranteed home run or anything.

Maybe the front office is getting desperate to make Durant happy. Not looking good for OKC atm. I know injuries have been a problem this season, but if the team can't maintain a playoff position (even if its lower tier) without him...not looking good for a championship run.

If my math is right it needs to be Perk, Lamb and another small contract.
