Nate Robinson, Bulls Hold Discussions

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Feb 26, 2015 5:58 am

The Chicago Bulls have held exploratory conversations with free agent guard Nate Robinson as a potential roster addition, league sources told RealGM.

Discussions have yet to advance, but the Bulls were made aware late Tuesday night that Robinson has a strong desire to sign with the franchise. Robinson is a natural fit for the roster, familiar with its core players and coaching staff.

Chicago has entered planning mode, with some hope that Derrick Rose can still return this season from a torn meniscus in his right knee. Even if Rose misses a possible minimum of four weeks, there's belief the Bulls could hold firm on their current 14-man roster.

Robinson had the most complete and dynamic campaign of his 10-year NBA career as a reserve guard for the Bulls in 2012-13, averaging 13.1 points and 4.4 assists in all 82 regular season games. The 30-year-old had helped lead the Bulls to a Eastern Conference semifinal  behind three 20-plus point performances in the 2013 postseason.

Robinson has spent the past two seasons with the Denver Nuggets. He was bought out of his contract after a trade to the Boston Celtics and became a free agent.

I guess the Bulls might as well mail it in officially. Terrible player. Just like the ones the homer can't see past anything Bulls fans love.

At least Robinson is a better shooter than Kobe (.373fg) and Rose (.407fg).
Also, Robinson has done something Rose/Kobe never did - Robinson shot .405 from downtown last time he played for the Bulls (and .433fg) and played all 82 games.

Would you rather have them sign 40 year old Mike James? Hes the only other PG out there who knows Thibs system

In Nate's book he said Chicago was his best year especially with his performance in the playoffs

Obviously Nate Robinson is a much better PG than Rose and a far better shooter than whatever his name is...ah Kobe.

P.S. just in case...sarcasm mode ON

Robinson could end up playing a lot more than 20 minutes.
Rose only shot .396 in the playoffs (16 games) the year he won MVP.
God knows what he'd shoot in this year's playoffs....
While Robinson shot .436 in the 2013 playoffs (12 games) and 16.3ppg.

I don't know why the Bulls always do this stupidity; why get rid of one of your hear-check guys in the first place?
I love Kirk but he's not Nate; Nate always giving it his all and will play both end of the floor you, Bulls need to sign him and sign him fast.

Oh come on -- Kirk isn't good any more, but nobody's questioning his will and desire. Nate is probably better at this point in some situations, but as much as Bulls fans hate on Kirk because of his poor form this year, he still makes the right play and doesn't try to do more than he can, which would stifle the offensive flow.

Again I love Kirk, he's a hustle player, he makes the right plays HOWEVER, he's not NATE, even though the balance of Kirk and Nate and Aaron can cancel out each other. Think about it; both of Nate and Aaron can shoot you into a game and shoot you out of a game. Kirk Hinrich is only 34 years old, but because Coach Thibs overly use him, he looks like he's 38.

Look at Nate's numbers in his best season with the Knicks-
17.2ppg .437fg 4.4apg 3.9rpg 1.3spg and only 1.9tpg (74 games, 29.9 minutes per game).
During his entire career he's only averaging 1.4 turnovers per game!

1) Nate Robinson's best season was NOT with the Knicks. They finished 14th in the East. Nate LEAD the Bulls to the Conference Semifinals.

2) Kirk Hinrich is worthless at this point. He has the 11th worst PER out of 349 players... and the 2nd worst VA (Value Added) out of 349 players. He shoots 37% FGs and gets lit up on defense all the time now. He used to be a good defender, but father time has clearly caught up with Captain Kirk.

3) Nate Robinson and Aaron Brooks CANNOT dribble the ball for the first 15 seconds of the shot clock. The Bulls success will depend on ball movement. Chicago needs to primarily run the offense through Butler and Gasol.

Nate is pound for pound the most skilled player in the league.... It's too bad he doesn't have more pounds!

OK, I gotta give a quick shout to JJ Barea.

I think you are getting confused with bulls success and nates personal success. Just because bulls made it semis has nothing to do with nates best year.
