NBA Salary Cap Could Rise To $90M In 2016, $105 In 2017

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Mar 20, 2015 9:35 pm

The NBA's salary cap could jump from $90 million in 2016-17 to as much as $105 million the year after, according to sources.

It would give teams a chance to add players without going into the luxury tax.

Wonder what the minimum will be? It's going to be hard for some teams to suddenly go from a 60M payroll to a 100M payroll, there are only so many players you can sign. FA's for those summers are gonna get PAID!

This is going to be a disaster for so many small market teams. No chance in hell they can compete with the teams from the bigger markets who could go easily to 100 mil without paying taxes.

Great I hope Pat sticks around a year or two more to fill out a contending roster.

Dont see that happening, Lakers should actually build a team through the draft and sign KD, they will continue to run the issues they currently have and they will compete with teams such as the Jazz who have built a team and contending. LBJ will be 32 and on the decline as well, why spend money on him, especially big money? And what will be the coaching situation, thats a big question too?
Ingles is cooked.

Not in the slightest. What's the difference between paying 90M versus paying 80M and being 10M over the tax line?

Max contract values are determined by the cap. Star players are still going to get the same percentage of the cap that they always have, which means big fours will still not be possible.

More likely for Durant to join LeBron and Kyrie in Cleveland in 2016. Don't see Durant wanting to play with Westbrook again, that clearly never worked. Both scenarios are pretty dumb but no way in h ell LeBron is ever leaving Cleveland again.
