Billy Donovan is interested in leaving Florida for the NBA more than ever before, according to sources.

Donovan figures to draw interest from multiple NBA teams this offseason.

Donovan recently agreed to a one-year contract extension to stay with the Gators through the 2020 season, according to multiple media reports, but the contract contains a buyout for a mere $500,000 if an NBA opportunity arises.

Donovan rejected serious interest from the Minnesota Timberwolves and Cleveland Cavaliers last offseason.

The Denver Nuggets and Orlando Magic currently employ interim coaches and both are expected to have Donovan on their list of targets.

No longer is Donovan barred from considering NBA offers as he was from 2007-08 through 2012-13, after he agreed to a noncompete clause spanning five years in exchange for being released from the contract he signed with the Magic.

As a Magic fan...no thanks. We already had 3 years of NBA head coaching inexperience we don't want the window on our current talent to close without ever having a bona fide NBA head coach at the helm. If we hire Donovan you can just give Rob Hennigan his walking papers in the midst of a 5 year plan and just start over.
That. Would suck.

Stan Van Gundy recently made a comment saying there was no way he would ever make it in the ring of honor with the people they have there right now. Did those same people make the initial coaching and front office role offer to Donovan? Would they still welcome him with the crazy offer the gave him before?

considering how much he has trashed the Magic ownership and FO since he was let go, is he really surprised to think he wouldnt make it into their ring of honor?

It was a question asked by a Detroit beat writer while the Pistons were in Orlando during their last game. Shaq was being inducted and that's why the question was brought up. Stan said there was zero chance considering how the two sides left the situation. What I was alluding to was that it seems like the Magic's ownership seems to have trouble forgiving and forgetting. Donovan burned them once and it took them how long to honor Shaq's fours years there?
