Anthony Davis To Receive $140M Max Offer From Pelicans

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sun Apr 26, 2015 7:34 pm

The New Orleans Pelicans will offer Anthony Davis a max contract this offseason that could exceed $140 million.

The exact figure of the contract will depend on how the cap increases in 2016, but the Pelicans will offer Davis the maximum allowed.

Good, he deserves it.

If pelicans are smart, they will do what bulls did with derrick rose and only offer him the escalated max (rose-rule) if he forfeits a palyer option and commits for 5 full years. Pretty sure Davis won't pass up the cash. Clippers made the mistake under sterling to offer blake griffin the rose rule max with a player option while the clipper had all the leverage. Kyrie Irivng and Paul George too less than the rose rule max cause they both wanted player options in their deals. Cavs benefited further cause Kyrie didn't even end up qualifying for the rose rule after not making the asg as a starter this year.

According to wikipedia, you need 2 All-Star starts, 2 All-NBA teams at any level, or an MVP to get the Derrick Rose Max. I don't think Davis qualifies yet.

Davis is a fan favorite like curry now - he will definitely get voted into next year's asg and he should make the all nba team this season and next as well. He is the best pf in the nba at such a young age.

Finally a player who deserves a max deal, unlike the Haywards and Parsons of the league.

This would only be news if the Pelicans were planning on not offering Davis a max contract in 2016.

how come not the Rudy Gays or the Eric Gordons of the league? Hayward is better than those 2.

I'd like to see him Browse some other options.

Hard to say no to $140M.

Not everything is about race. Hayward and Parsons are more recent than Gay and Gordon.
