Spears: Aldridge For Griffin Sign-And-Trade Has Been Rumored

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat May 9, 2015 12:22 am

LaMarcus Aldridge will be a free agent this offseason and Yahoo's Marc J. Spears reported that he's heard rumors about a potential sign-and-trade with the Los Angeles Clippers for Blake Griffin.

Griffin was drafted by former Clippers' GM Neil Olshey, who is now with the Blazers.

Griffin has an early termination option in 2017.

"This is a rumor. Let me say that three times. This is a rumor. This a rumor. This is a rumor," said Spears on John Canzano's radio show.

"Blake Griffin.

"Obviously, there’s a connection there with the GM. And you wonder, if LaMarcus is interested in the Clippers, playing with Chris Paul. Could Neil Olshey get his old superstar with the Clippers in Portland?

"I think you get to a point where – Neil is smart. You’ve got to have a come-to-Jesus meeting with LaMarcus and say, “Hey, do you really want to be here or do you think you want to go. Because if you really want to go, help us – the same way Steve Nash helped the Suns. Don’t just walk away. Try to help out Portland in the process."

Blake Griffin is younger and already as good if not better than Aldridge so if I was the clippers I wouldn't even think about it.

Griffin is better than Aldridge. Griffin for Aldridge and Batum could work though.

You know Blake's made another major improvement to his game when the Clipper-hating media starts up with idiotic trade rumors again. First it was Blake for Melo, then Blake for Dwight, and now Blake for Aldridge. When will these hacks learn that Blake is our franchise?

Marc Spears - a professional journalist is going to report this? Really? This guy doesn't have a bull **** detector if he can't filter this off as completely unrealistic and stupid.

If John Canzano is mentioned in any post, at any time, it is BS. That dude is a stooge!

That's difficult to believe unless there is some heretofore undisclosed rift between Blake and Rivers/the Clippers.

Griffin is younger and currently playing at a higher level. Where's the incentive for the Clips?

Blake Griffin is a better player then LaMarcus Aldridge.

Blake Griffin is younger then Aldridge.

The only way Clippers would do this deal if Griffin told them he wants to get traded. No logic whatsoever.

Spears should have kept this "rumor" for himself.

lol
not even funny

absolutely no sense

Aldridge is getting old and has like 1-2 good years before he will start to decline
Id understand if it was an opposite situation
Blake on ending contract with rumors wanting to move
but this?

this is pure heresy

Yeah no kidding. i saw the headline and was like they can't be talking about Blake can they. that makes no sense for the Clippers at all. I would say also that Griffin even right now is the better player no to mention has less tread on the tires.

No way this actually happens, but if Portland could pull this off it would be the steal of the decade easily. LMA is good, but Blake is better now and should continue to be so for a while.

No point in helping out your old team if your staying the conference. Do you really want to get eliminated by your old team in the playoffs? Think not.

Non sense rumor.
Clippers already a championship team and no reason to trade your young superstar player(he's still 26) who plays in an elite level this playoffs for a 30 year old allstar who has a few years left to play in his prime.
I believe Clipps owner Steve Balmer has a good relationship with his team and his players. They just need to add some pieces and maybe they can win a title.
I also remember the Dwight Howard/Ryan Anderson for Blake Griffin/DeAndre Jordan AND Lebron James for Blake Griffin/Jamaal Crawford trade and it didn't happen. hahaha
