Bucks Close On Trade For Greivis Vasquez

The Milwaukee Bucks and Toronto Raptors are close to a trade involving Greivis Vasquez.

Vasquez was acquired by the Raptors in 2013 as part of the Rudy Gay trade.

I dont understand the protection on this pick. So if they end up in the lottery we get the pick but if they end up in the 15-30 range between those years do we lose the pick or do we get something else down the road. Would that mean that we get their pick regardless of where they finish in 2020?

Either way thats an amazing haul for a backup PG that always cries about starting. How do teams even pick up the phone when Masai calls

If they are in the lottery, 1-14, they keep the pick. If they are in the playoffs, 15-30, you get the pick. If you get the pick in 2017, that's that. If you don't get it in 2017 (say they lose Jordan and CP3 is injured all season and Blake sucks for some reason so they are in the lottery), then you look to 2018. If you don't get it in 2018, then you look to 2019. If you don't get it in 2019, you'll get it in 2020 no matter what.

But they are going to make the playoffs in 2017 so no need to worry.
