Paul Pierce Opts Out Of Player Option

Paul Pierce opted out of his player option with the Washington Wizards on Saturday.

Pierce reportedly will decide between returning to the Wizards or joining the Los Angeles Clippers.

Well, if he wanted to stay with the Wizards, why would he opt out?

The only thing I can see it becoming is a 2/8M deal, but is that worth it?

Him opting out means one of two things, either he wants security to play an extra year or two longer or he wants to become an UFA to sign a deal fitting to the Clippers' financial needs. I'm leaning towards the latter. I'm sure he's made enough money and all he wants is another 'ship. One more would solidify his legacy even further.

I've been playing with Paul Pierce on the Charlotte Hornets in NBA2k15, and I must say he is the best player at hitting contested treys (but I've never played as Curry, so he may be too).

I think the Clippers have a better chance at beating Golden State (or Houston) than the Wizards have of beating Cleveland.
So if Pierce wants a ring, go with the Clippers.

Masai, could be a goood signing if no good trades are out there since he kills the raps, throw 1 year 12-15 mil so we still have cap to go after kd in 2016.

What is Pierce's defense like nowadays?
Remember when Michael Jordan played for the Wizards and had no problem taking Pierce off the dribble.
40-year-old Jordan would be behind the 3-point-line and simply drive without much speed all the way for lay-ups over Pierce.
Then again, Jordan was doing that to everyone.
And when I played as Pierce in NBA2k15 his defense didn't seem to be a problem.
I was planning on splitting the SF playing time evenly between Pierce and Kidd-Gilchrist, but instead I end up playing Pierce for 3 of the 4 quarters, because the defense doesn't seem to suffer with Pierce on the floor.
