Robin Lopez Agrees To Four-Year, $54M Deal With Knicks

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Jul 3, 2015 5:46 pm

The New York Knicks and Robin Lopez are finalizing a four-year, $54 million agreement.

Lopez agreed to a deal on Thursday evening contingent on DeAndre Jordan not signing with the Knicks. Only an improbable change of heart from Jordan stands in the way of the deal between Lopez and the Knicks.

The Knicks have also targeted LaMarcus Aldridge and Greg Monroe this offseason and Lopez is at least their fifth choice to improve the frontcourt.

He's a decent passer for a center. I wouldn't count on him to hold onto the ball much though

Normally I'd say this is crazy money for a guy like Rolo....but in light of the ridiculous deal being floated this offseason and the impending cap increases over the next 2 seasons.....$13M a year is the new $7M a year...so taking everything in to perspective its not a bad deal. Rolo is young...unlike his brother he has 2 functioning feet and can play defense which we all know is a priority for the Knicks above all else. No flashy signings to appease the fans, but quiet as kept Phil is plodding through free agency under the radar and building a much more solid team than what they have had for a minute. I'm thinking Derrick Williams will be next up. So yeah...no Lebron, no Aldridge, no Wade, no Jordan, no Cousins, no CP3...etc....but hopefully next years product wont be as nauseating as last years.

...at least we didn't spend it on a guy with a blown achilles.....think about it.

The New York Trailblazers have added some much needed defensive help. If they can get David Lee back in a trade with GSW they'd have a decent starting lineup. Lopez can cover up some of his defensive deficiencies. Bring in Porzingis off the bench for some scoring punch and they'd surely be good enough to make the playoffs in the East as a ⅞ seed.

Also a lot of b!tch@ssness in the league now...the gals are too soft or too scared to "be the man" in NYC and deal with the brutally harsh fans (Taylor Swift, Michael Rappaport, Vincent Pastore) and the terrifyingly scary media coverage. All these prima donnas want to walk into an already built situation where they won't have to show and prove. The concept of "Paying dues" has been lost in exchange for guys wearing capri pants and women's blouses. Melo for all his shortcomings is the only dude who took the money AND took the challenge of trying to become that dude. Everybody saying he just did it for the money...but everyone else is also getting PAID but walking into ready made teams basically.

So the stupid knock owner james Dolan thought hiring Zen master Jackson would bring major signings here ! What top talent free agent wants in here in New York ! With Lopez signed Knicks win 20 games if there lucky, even tobias Harris from New York will sign somewhere else to avoid playing with melo who is a ball hog ! 2 ball hogs can't fit together

No, the team just sucks and the owner is one of the worst in all of sports.

Right....unlike teams like Miami and Cleveland who were elite destinations prior to people like Shaq & Lebron and all the bandwagoners riding them. Those teams never sucked.
