Mavs Tried To Sign Steve Nash As Player In Offseason

The Dallas Mavericks attempted to convince Steve Nash to come out of retirement and join their team as a player as recently as June.

The Mavericks hoped Nash would be interested in reuniting with Dirk Nowitzki and playing backup point guard.

Nash had also received interest from the Cleveland Cavaliers during the 14-15 season.

Nash remained adamant he would only play for the Los Angeles Lakers if he were physically able to return.

The Golden State Warriors will hire Nash as a consultant.

While he was an outstanding player back in the day, signing him as a player now is grasping at straws again for the Mavs. And with the way their offseason went, if Nash stuck to his commitment and showed his loyalty, Cuban would have increased his contract by about $3 mil per season.

Love Steve, and honestly wish he left the game in a better way. He looked like he still had a lot in him pre-injury. Miss watching him and the 7 seconds or less offense.
