Celtics Tried To Use Hornets' No. 9 Pick To Trade Up With Knicks To No. 4

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Dec 1, 2015 4:23 pm

In last year's draft, the Boston Celtics initially pursued a trade for the Charlotte Hornets' No. 9 pick with the idea of sending it to the Knicks, along with Boston's No. 15 pick to move up to No. 4.

The Celtics were targeting Justise Winslow at No. 4, just as they were at No. 9.

Charlotte refused the pitches from the Celtics and ended up taking Frank Kaminsky, while Kristaps Porzingis went No. 4 overall ot the Knicks.

The Miami Heat selected Winslow with the 10th overall pick.

good call, steve. KP would not have been there at 9 and we ended up getting jerian grant at 19 anyway.

i'm assuming BPA at 9 would have still been frank the tank or stanley johnson. then maybe you still end up with jerian grant at 15.

no, thanks. i'm good.
RIP magnumt

welcome home, thibs.

How many times are we going to hear about the Celtics and their failed attempts to move up in the draft? I mean, these type of things happen all the time. Teams make offers, other teams decline. What is the objective? To give the impression that Ainge was "trying"? or that the Celtics couldn't get it done? ... move on!

Notice how the Celtics front office never specifies that the Nets pick was ever on the table. If they wanted to persuade their fans of all their valiant attempts to move up, wouldn't it make sense to, I don't know, mention the Nets pick was offered?

It wasn't.

Those other picks are poop.

Another report of an insulting offer from Danny Ainge. Just a casual Tuesday.

When you do business with Billy King and he gives you a bounty of lottery picks in exchange for a few over the hill geezers, sometimes it's hard to come back to reality.

Nurse is below average at best.
Masai is overrated.

*sigh* more disappointment after the fact. DA just make a big trade already. Brad Stevens and the team are losing their patience. You don't need that much depth!!!

Time to sell that Brooklyn Pick.
