The Minnesota Timberwolves have made Kevin Martin available in trade talks.

The Wolves would like to give Zach LaVine and Andrew Wiggins even more minutes at shooting guard.

The Wolves have had conversations with two teams about Martin.

Martin is averaging 12.7 points in 26 minutes per game this season.

I doubt wolves want anything more than a pure salary dump for him. All aroundcbad year for him. And taking minutes from young players.

If timberwolves package a protected first round pick with him than philly will easily eat his contract. However, he may request a buyout.

What? His contract only has a year left and it's reasonable ($7m/year). They aren't going to send a pick with him to get him off the roster.

He has two years left on his deal including the rest of this season, he's injury prone, he doesn't play much d and is on the wrong side of 30. He played well his lone season with the thunder as he was part of the return in the harden trade. When he hit free agency - the thunder didn't resign him cause he wanted a 4 year guaranteed contract like what the wolves offered him and they believed he would be in heavy decline in the latter two years of the deal which is starting right now.

Will probably end up on the Cavs as a bench player.

im not saying hes better than affalo, but he still can put up 18-24 easily.. he can come off the bench when melo, affalo and KP sits and all our bench players play.

Cavs may be interested if they don't have to send any assets back or if they could potentially coax the timberwolves into giving something of value up to get rid of him. Cavs still have the brendan haywood trade exception which is enough to take on kmart's contract. Kmart will also be a cheaper alternative than resigning jr smith who likely opts out next summer when the cap rises with the expectation of both a raise in salary and a multiyear deal. If it means anything - Martin is also from Ohio and has had battles with Lebron in his high school days so he might be thrilled and motivated to land on the cavs who are also a contender. Cavs definitely need to make a move with the way the Warriors and Spurs are playing out west. Heat, Thunder and Bulls will also likely be active near the trade deadline to improve their rosters as they each have key players who will be ufas at season's end that they need to convince to resign.

I meant 1 year after this season other wise I'd have called him an expiring.

Regardless outside of this season he has been a pretty reliable shooter and could add some bench scoring/3 pt shooting to a playoff contending team without having to give up much (most likely just eating his salary and maybe a 2nd rounder).

Teams aren't going to bring him in to be a starter, so he would most likely be in a role similar to his year in OKC.

There isn't a whole lot of risk involved for a contending team needing some bench scoring.
