Nets Offer GM Job To Sean Marks

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Feb 17, 2016 3:37 am

Sean Marks has been offered the job of general manager by the Brooklyn Nets.

Marks was promoted by the San Antonio Spurs from assistant coach to assistant general manager before the 14-15 season.

He should stay with the spurs

He will get offered many jobs, why take a low chance if success one that could blow your rep quickly

Keep learning in the ultimate place

Agreed. Though he may like the pay raise offered to him. And he can be comfortable knowing he can only go up from here with the franchise.

Big budget, big city, the ultimate scapegoat (King), low expectations and a long-term vision. Sounds good to me.

Its definitely a promotion from a title stand point for Sean Marks, but its not exactly an attractive position to take over as a General Manager considering that they don't have access to their draft picks and the years they do Boston has the right to swap picks with them, salary cap space is a benefit but this off season they won't be the only ones with ability to offer a max contract. I expect if Marks does accept this job he will take some fellow colleagues with him from San Antonio over to Brooklyn.

so long as the expectations are reasonable regarding his starting point (rock bottom), then this is a good look for both.

nets could use some spur culture. marks climbs to a new professional tier, and a job he probably can do if the spurs fast-tracked him the way they have. good call by the nets. good luck, mr. marks.
RIP magnumt

welcome home, thibs.
