Joe Johnson To Seek Multi-Year Deal From Nets In Offseason

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Feb 18, 2016 2:59 pm

Joe Johnson is in the final season of a six-year, $123.7 million contract he signed in 2010 with the Atlanta Hawks. With a salary of $24.894 million this season and the Brooklyn Nets out of playoff contention, Johnson has been thought of as a buyout candidate.

But multiple reports indicate Johnson doesn't have interest in a buyout.

Johnson reportedly will seek a multi-year deal from the Nets in the offseason.

If he wants to remain a Net, Sean Marks should offer him a 2 year, $15 million deal tops. He's a 7th or 8th man looking ahead in his career. With cap going up I think thats fair value.

Such a waste of talent, he could really help a contender but he'd rather play meaningless games in Brooklyn near the end of his career..

JJ has had a nice career but he's barely an NBA player now. Maybe a contender would want him for deep bench role if he was waived. Maybe.

Nurse is below average at best.
Masai is overrated.
I dont get how so many people believe in the raptors, they have zero to chance to win it all.

If he wants to stay in Brooklyn - he should sign an extension right now. Since he has bird rights - he's eligible to sign a 3-year extension at a discount or slight raise from his previous salary. I see him signing a 3-year deal around 27M with possibly the third year only partially guaranteed for like 500k. If JJ isn't getting a buyout - I hope Eric Gordon does with the pelicans - he's never wanted to be there and he's on a contract year after a few injury riddled seasons. When EG is healthy - he can put up decent #s that could help strengthen the bench of a contending team like cavs, thunder or spurs in trying to match up with warriors. EG is injured right now and it's highly unlikely pelicans can trade his contract for anything of value before the trade deadline.
