Pelicans Unlikely To Push To Re-Sign Eric Gordon

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sun Mar 13, 2016 10:15 pm

The New Orleans Pelicans are unlikely to push to re-sign Eric Gordon this offseason.

The Pelicans shopped Gordon ahead of the trade deadline but were unable to get a deal done.

Gordon missed 115 games due to various injuries during his first three seasons with the Pelicans.

Gordon's best season perhaps came in 2012-13 when he averaged 17.0 points but he was limited to playing only 42 games due to injury problems involving his left knee.

When New Orleans' matched the Phoenix Suns' four-year, $58 million offer sheet to retain Gordon, it came with the expectations that he would emerge as a franchise player.

That offer sheet match was a bad enough decision. Re-signing him would be worse. This team has been worse with him on the floor. They need healthy bodies on this roster if they expect to get anything out of Holiday & Tyreke next season along with kerping Davis healthy for a full season. Gordonneeds to be a bench option shooter playing no.more than 25 minutes per game if any team expects him to play more than half a season.
