Jim Buss Believes Lakers Already Have 'Perfect Number Of Young Guys'

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed May 4, 2016 9:38 pm

The Los Angeles Lakers are hoping their lottery pick remains in the top-3 so it won't automatically be conveyed to the Philadelphia 76ers.

But there is some doubt as to whether the Lakers would like to keep the pick or trade it away for a proven player.

“Right now, I think our young guys are the perfect number and we will add solid veterans,” said Jim Buss.

The Lakers' young core consists of D'Angelo Russell, Julius Randle and Jordan Clarkson.

With significant cap space, the Lakers can conceivably sign a free agent and trade for another top level player.

They might get lucky then and lose the pick to the 76ers

Great poker move by Fredo Buss - now everybody knows you want to trade the pick
Rest in peace Kobe & Gianna

Of course Jimmy would say something stupid like that. Even if you trade it, don't say you really don't want it. Also, since when is there a limit of young talent, especially if it turns out after the workouts that one is exceptional that you can't pass up on. :banghead:

He just keeps messing this team up, by the time he's done it will take 5 more years to bring it back to normal because of all of the bad moves he's making.

Show me all these successful teams trying to rebuild via the draft... 76ers years of nothing Pelicans even with Davis cant seem to make play offs kings basket case only okc and now wolves seem to be able to make a contender from the draft. Win now mentality is good trade for a star and bring in a free agent and boom competive team

17 games with Kobe.

Lakers are going to struggle to win that much without Kobe.

3 is the perfect number of young players, is it? Well I guess I see what the Wolves have been doing wrong for so long now.

Unless there is a talent too good to pass on, I'm all for the Lakers trading the pick, especially if the team can land a great 3 or 5.

And the Lakers will definitely win more than 17 games next season. A big part of the loses came from letting Kobe do his thing, and this was perhaps his worst offensive season.

95% of good teams were build via the draft. Thunders, Spurs, Clippers, Warriors, etc were all built around highly drafted players, and some traded other drafted players for their other stars.

Also, every team would love to 'win now' if it was actually feasible. Other teams have better assets to trade for a star, unless the Lakers get the #1/2 pick this year.

He needs to go. Running the franchise into the ground, he is.
