Furkan Korkmaz Negotiates Buyout Into Contract With Anadolu Efes

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed May 11, 2016 5:44 pm

Furkan Korkmaz has negotiated a buyout clause into his contract with Anadolu Efes, which could allow him to come to the NBA for the 16-17 season.

Korkmaz is projected to be a mid-first round selection.

Korkmaz’s buyout will be $2 million.

If Korkmaz is unable to secure assurances he'll be selected in the lottery, he's likely to withdraw and re-enter in 2017.

An NBA team can contribute up to $650,000 this summer for a player picked in the first round with an international buyout, but league rules dictate that the difference must be paid out of the player's pocket.

orkmaz is expected to have difficulty traveling to the United States for the workouts and interviews needed to improve his draft stock if his Turkish season runs late into June.

What do they mean by his 'Turkish season'? Euroleague's done and Turkish league is done. The Olympic qualifiers are like a week long too--is that what they're after?

Turkish league just got done last week I believe, and the play-offs are going to start on May 17th. I think that's what they are referring to!

Euroleague Final 4 is this weekend and the Turkish league regular season finished today - the playoffs only start next week.

Thanks, obviously not Turkish here! Is it actually possible that the season would go through July?

Last years the final series ended up 4-1 with going on to late june. Efes has easier path to the finals because they finished season 1st. So it can be fair to say Furkan's season won't be short.

About his chances in nba... i can easily say he's my favourite talent in Turkey before Cedi Osman and Omer Faruk Yurtseven. He's a sharp shooter and has athletic ability. He's just not strong enough. And that may hurt his chances in Nba if he can't overcome this weakness. Than he can be only poor man's Kevin Martin.
