I'd like to ask you the same thing. Who has said he hasn't worked on his FTs in the offseason?
So why are you blasting a guy that's working on his FTs both in the offseason and during the season?
Because the offseason is where most of the improvement comes from and I'm implying that he didn't do enough. Shooting a ton of Free Throws after a game isn't going to help him. Especially because he is only doing that many because he is emotionally inclined to do so for what will be a temporary amount of time due to a game loss. Then he'll go back to his regular ineffective routine. If he would do that after every single game, then perhaps it would help him, but he clearly doesn't.
Bigs in the league who were able to turn it around did so in the offseason. Drummond definitely did work on his FTs in the offseason, (although it clearly is not evident from what we've seen) but he definitely didn't make it his number one priority. If he shot a 300-500 FTs a day for most of the offseason, there would definitely be an improvement. Bigs generally don't care enough though. Tristan Thompson is an example of how to do it right. He noticed he was shooting bad, and corrected it in the offseason by putting in consistent work, and even changed shooting hands to improve. If drummond wants to improve, he needs consistent high volume FT training, and not occasionally shoot a bunch of FTs after a game only when he feels bad about it.
