The Houston Rockets have matched the offer sheet Donatas Motiejunas signed with the Brooklyn Nets.

Very happy about this!

After seeing the details on the deal the Rockets had to match that. I'm not sure if the Nets thought that the deal would scare Houston off. In fact, it almost seems like they gift-wrapped it for Houston.

Not even sure why Rockets match him. It is a 1/4 into the season and he has yet play 1 game. Probably the most expensive bench warmer this season, as well as the next.

Most expensive bench? Not even close, sounds like you are unaware of current NBA salaries. Check out biyombo salary, and if you think he's a starter then how about Vucevic.

Doesn't matching the nets offer allow the rockets to sign him to more money (the NJ offer) without it affecting the cap as much? Isn't that how it works with RFA? Interested to find out if thats what it is, because it does sound kinda ridic.

Huh? I'm guessing you are unfamiliar with restricted free agency.
The Rockets played this in standard textbook fashion.

If anything it appears D-Mo's agent "dicked" him around by costing him a potential big payday next summer (QO) only to end up signing a deal nearly identical to the one they were offered earlier.
