Nikola Pekovic Prepared To Retire

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Dec 30, 2016 7:00 pm

Nikola Pekovic acknowledged this week that he's "more prepared for ending my career than returning" to the NBA.

Minnesota is expected to pursue a medical retirement for Pekovic after Jan 31st. Pekovic has had persistent ankle issues.

Pekovic has one year left on the five-year, $60 million deal he signed during the 2013 offseason.

Pekovic has been running Partizan Belgrade while away from the Wolves.

Thanks for the honesty.

Not at all, he spoke with the team before the year, and there was a mutual parting.

This is why teams shouldn't hammer themselves with injury-prone players and offer them significant salary, especially to a player who haven't proven they can play the whole 82 games of a season. Houston played it smart with D-Mo and Dallas was smart in letting go Chandler Parsons. And this is why WASHINGTON played it poorly in signing Bradley Beal to a huge contract, they should've went with the GSW-Curry route and ask for a bargain. He was RFA, nobody was overpaying them.
