Ben Simmons' Recovery On Track As Foot Scan Reveals No Setbacks

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Jan 25, 2017 3:56 am

Ben Simmons' recovery continues to progress as planned after a foot scan revealed no setbacks.

Simmons underwent a scheduled scan on his surgically repaired right foot on Monday.

The Sixers said that while everything is going as planned, he still does not have a timetable for a return to the court.

Simmons underwent surgery to repair an acute Jones fracture of the fifth metatarsal bone in his right foot on Oct. 4.

Simmons was expected to miss three months. Simmons could make his debut shortly after the All-Star break.

Sixers aren't making the playoffs - they should let him sit out the season even if he is healthy enough to play. This way they can do some more of the infamous tanking their known for and land a high pick in a draft with allstar pg prospects. Clearly their medical staff can do rehab wonders based on Embid's career start after sitting out more than two years. Simmons playing his first nba games next year will also make him eligible to win rookie of the year for 2018 and takes pressure and attention off the sixers next incoming lottery picks (they may also get a lakers pick if it falls out of the top 3). They could be a playoff team in the weak east next year especially if they can move noel and okafor for good assets and also land some decent role guys in free agency.

I do not agree with this allow him to play and put him on a work rest cycle. This way he gets game reps and can come back next season with a bit more experience.

If he sits, at least he can be ROY next year. If he plays a single minute this year he won't be. Julius Randle may know what that's like.

Not necessarily true... The playoff buzz is live in Philly. They've played that level of basketball the past few weeks and show no indication of slowing.

Even if he qualified, Julius Randle had no chance of wining. Anthony-Towns had a far better season.

Unfortunately for the true rookies in the NBA, 3rd year player Joel Embiid will be winning ROY

There isn't a single "true rookie" that deserves to win the ROY award this year anyway. It would be another MCW type win.

76'ers going to redshirt whoever they draft after this season too?

I approve. Helps accumulate losses.
