Magic Ramp Up Trade Talks On Serge Ibaka

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sun Feb 12, 2017 11:00 pm

Serge Ibaka could be traded by the Orlando Magic before this month's deadline.

Ibaka will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

The Magic are fielding calls from a handful of teams on Ibaka after realizing re-signing him will be tougher than initially expected.

The Toronto Raptors and Miami Heat are among the teams that have expressed interest in Ibaka.

Ibaka is still a good piece for any playoff team. Unfortunately the Magic are far from it.

If the Celtics were interested in Ibaka there would be a ton of articles about how he is washed up and not the player he once was by Ainge useful idiots in the media. How his value is at a all time low. Since that hasn't happened yet that means either that celtics have no interest or haven't decided to be serious.

Ibaka is a great player on bot sides of the ball that unfortunately is too good for the level that the Magic can currently compete at.

We need to move AG to PF and pick up a starting SF the adequately can also play both sides of the ball in this trade. It will be interesting to see how this plays out!

He would better fit what the Celtics are doing. He's expanded his range, he can block shots and rebound; his contract is team friendly and isn't a "me guy."

I don't see the Raptors having what the Magic would want to trade for him.

Don't both Horford and Ibaka want to play and are better suited to play the same position - PF??

It doesn't matter what the Magic want - either they let him walk for free or accept the low-ball offers they're bound to receive.

Sorry but Ibaka hasn't been "great" on both sides of the ball. While he can block shots his defense has been poor. Offensively he's the same player he's always been while still a poor rebounder. I don't see anything great coming from Ibaka. That said, he'd fit well with a playoff team. I'm hoping Orlando can get a decent young player out of the deal but since he's a UFA I don't anticipate teams giving up much.

Miami has to trade Winsow or Richardson for Ibaka, or Ibaka type of player, that would really make them a seriuos team

Or they hold on to their very best assets and simply pay him in the summer...

Or that too, but why waste this year as they have it going well and adding Ibaka now could likely make them even better for this year playoffs....also, getting him in the summer would not be for sure
