Nike Interested In Signing Lonzo Ball

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Apr 3, 2017 10:24 pm

Phil Knight said Nike would be interested in signing Lonzo Ball to an endorsement deal. Knight also has has no issues with his father, LaVar Ball, seeking a $1 billion deal for a shoe and apparel deal for all three of his sons.

“If he can get it, get it,’’ Knight said.

That amount doesn't appear like it will come from Nike.

“It’s a little steep,’’ said Knight.

Knight then talked about Nike's interest in Ball.

“He’s an awfully great player. Yeah, we have an interest.”

Any GM who takes this kid over Fox is a fool. Yes he has great vision, but he doesn't possess the elite quickness necessary to guard the NBA's best pg's. He will also have difficulty getting to the rim against quality defenders (beverly, cp3, wall, just to name a few) forcing him to take his suspect jumper if he wants to be a threat offensively. Not saying he can't be good but he has a lot of work to do. Best case scenario: he'll be like the since the ASG ricky rubio. Not the rubio that has sucked for years

I can see him being like Shaun Livingston on the GSW. Just a really good sub point guard that can run the offense steadily off the bench, and he won't get burned by the other teams 2nd string point guards as much as the first string point guards. That is probably the role he is best suited for coming into the NBA. It will hopefully allow him to work on his game and hopefully learn from whoever the starting point guard is on whatever team that drafts him. Point Guard is the hardest position to play in the NBA and will take some time to adjust to and learn. After all he will be playing against the best athletes in the world now, not kids.

To me he's like Deangelo Russell, but not as good of a scorer. Plus he's more frail.

His story seems to be better than his actual game.
