Jimmer Fredette Turned Down Multiple 10-Day Contract Offers

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Apr 10, 2017 5:04 pm

Jimmer Fredette received multiple 10-day contract offers when he finished his season in China.

Fredette instead decided to stay home with his wife and their new daughter.

Shanghai would like to sign Fredette for the 17-18 season though they would likely have to improve on the $1.1 million salary after taxes he made this season.

Fredette is also on a three-year endorsement deal from a Chinese sneaker company for $345,000 and another $300,000 in bonuses.

Why play for thousands when you can play for millions. I wouldn't sign a contract unless they showed me they were committed.

Could be worthwhile if he found a good fit. As Jimmer properly stated, the NBA is composed of a few superstars and then some role players that bounce around until they find a perfect situation. For example, James Jones is still playing on the Cavs and probably wouldn't make a team in China.

get that paper, jimmer! good for you. why go back to work for pennies on the dollar now? that's time better spent with the baby.

sounds like a world of opportunity has opened up for him in china. so, that's what's up.

$1.7 million guaranteed in China for playing half of the the equivalent NBA season. More millions every year. Why in the world would he try for 10 day contracts with a new baby in the home? Stay home, be Dad and supportive husband, and return to China for more millions next season.

I would not even bother with the NBA. Jimmer is in an ideal position in life. He is a superstar in China and can relax at home here in the offseason.

Why risk injury on a 10-day when a real contract is waiting for you to sign. Makes sense!

Jones, with Chinese obsessed with Winners, could've played in China but he's high ranking Union member and stayed in Cle. It also didn't hurt that LBJ wanted him w/him in Cle. Jimmer just happened to "find" right Team/Owner(Yao Ming) that let him just play and pay him nicely. Which is more than NBA did

I mean sure why not. It's not like you have anything to prove.

How much did Wilson Chandler get coming back from China?

I think Jimmer could get a decent look back in the NBA. The game has changed, defense isn't a premium at the guard position as it used to be. If he can hit 37-40% of his 3's and set up an offense he has a place on the bench somewhere and that could get him more money than in China. There are so many bad point guards and shooting guards in the NBA, if he just takes expectations in stride, I'm sure he could ride the pine somewhere and get minutes plus a decent small deal somewhere.
