Some Teams Now Ranking De'Aaron Fox Ahead Of Lonzo Ball

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri May 12, 2017 4:59 pm

The majority of teams still prefer Markelle Fultz over Lonzo Ball for the No. 1 pick and Ball may end up dropping further than No. 2.

De'Aaron Fox has pulled ahead of Ball for some teams and that perception appears to be widening. Fo improved his draft stock in March and could go as high as No. 2 or No. 3.

Fox outplayed Ball in their March Madness meeting.

While Fox has an inconsistent perimeter shot, his defense and playmaking has attracted admirers.

In my NBA 2K17 my league the Lakers draft Fox over Ball everytime.

Fox might be a better fit that team needs defense and a player that can penetrate. Fox's penetration can really help free things up for Dangelo Russel and Ingram. Plus pick and roll with Nance and Randle could be devastating

I probably wouldn't take Ball in the top 4.

Good ol' Lavar Ball can be thanked for this. If Ball does indeed fall, what will become of the Big Baller Brand now?
What you know about Dirk’s leadership skills is non existent. You don’t have a clue. Your ability to evaluate leadership skills….well you obviously have an overinflated value of your own. Did you take business classes at Marquette?

"Fox outplayed Ball in March Madness" is the understatement of the year.

You're not alone, Kevin Ding reported that the Lakers value Fox very highly.

Wow that's pretty cool imo. Ball might have more hype but in terms of just basketball. I don't see how he's way better then Fox. Their about equal as prospects imo. Ball has a more unique unorthodox skillset though. That makes him intriguing

I am not surprised at all.

I am very high on Fox.

They'll be fine, like Lavar says "We're not competing with Nike and Adidas and Under Armour... we're above them"

Oh, I hope that's not true. My fear is Ball falls to the Magic.

The 76ers would take Ball in a heartbeat.

If Fox jumps up to the top three then that opens the door for Josh Jackson to fall to Orlando which would be amazing.

I'd be fine with Boston taking Jackson 1st overall.

Yeah, Boston is the main team I worry taking him. Their hard push for PG / Butler along with fans cheering for Hayward show they want a SF upgrade. But if Fultz is really believed to be the best player in the class then it isn't bad to take him and worry about fit later as Boston still lacks a super star.

Yeah, Fox might be the equal or better prospect, but hard to imagine the Sixers taking Fox over Ball given their relative fit with Simmons (and the fact that Simmons and Fox both have highly questionable jumpers.) The same concerns are going to be there
regarding Jackson, but the overall gap between Jackson and the 4-9 guys is much greater.

Ball's offensive shortcomings (lack of P&R game, lack of drives and lack of midrange) are effectively masked on the Sixers. But defense is another story.

Depends on what you are looking for. If you want a fancy passing regular season hyped up player you go with Ball. If you want a guy who plays solid defence and could in time develop an outside shot and be a complete package, you go with Fox. Defence wins titles. Some teams are attracted to winning titles; Magic Johnson on the other hand, is enamoured with the flash.

The Sixers have already said Simmons is their PG, so Ball isn't/shouldn't even be considered. Tatum is who they need since they need a Stretch PF thst also plays D

I actually think Fox is more a sure thing than Fultz. Fultz has a steady all around game but what gets me hesitant is he scores most of his points on short shots over small defenders. Fultz isn't that fast or great from deep so if you place a bigger defender on him he may really struggle. Fox on the other hand is a blur of slashing creativity, his slashing game almost reminds me of Sprewell but he's a little shorter with more of a floor vision game. I'm just not sure how you stay in front of Fox.

That depends on which draft class you choose to download. From my own experience, I downloaded a draft class from early march where lonzo and fultz are the clear cut best prospects and Celtics take fultz with the #1 and lakers take ball with the #2.

In mines it has Lonzo at 82 overall and Fox and 81. But the Lakers always pick Fox despite Lonzo having the higher overall

Fultz is also a SG/PG rated at 83 in the draft
