2019 NBA All-Star Game To Be Played In Charlotte

The NBA is finalizing a deal to bring the 2019 All-Star Game to Charlotte.

The 2017 game was scheduled to be played in Charlotte but the NBA moved it to New Orleans following North Carolina's passing of HB2.

The 2018 All-Star Game will be held in Los Angeles.

I support 2 bathrooms. Men and Women. I don't believe in some magical spectrum for gender. You know, like medical schools have taught for decades (and still do). You go into whichever bathroom your phenotypical gender supports because our society has been comfortable with this distinction for a very long time. This is all very beside the point though. Who cares in terms of this discussion.. this is the NBA making political statements and rewarding a state in this case for supporting it's temper tantrum (along with the NCAA).

The bill was about a lot more than bathrooms. Under HB2, an employer could fire an employee based on their sexual orientation. I suggest you read the Wikipedia page for gender to get a better understanding of the scientific consensus for how and why that term is used. You seem to be confusing gender and sex. You sound like someone who doesn't come across people who are different than you very often. Maybe you live in a small town or a suburb. I would encourage you to actually speak with someone who has a unique gender identity, because my guess is that you probably never have. When a law affects YOUR employees then it becomes YOUR business. So no, Adam Silver shouldn't stay out of it. He's standing up for his employees, which is admirable.

If the nba is so progressive - why don't they just host all the all star games overseas like in Mexico, Canada, UK, China and etc while Trump/Pence are in the White House. Those two support HB2 like bills and stand for much worse things. Trump has so many allegations, conspiracies, corruption, controversy, you name it surrounding him as potus. And Pence's views on social issues especially in the 21st century is atrocious. It is an admirable waste of time. Being lesbian, gay, bisexual ,transgender or w.e is someone's personal decision like choosing to smoke - you live with the risks, rewards and penalties of your choice. Don't expect everyone who doesn't conform to your thinking or way of life to adapt to it or be forced too. That's how wars get started. Frankly, politics have become so distorted by alternate realities and breaks from hundreds of years of norms its just the height of absurdity now. The NBA has aligned itself onto this political PC distortion because it satisfies certain ideologies that will protest and have a temper tantrum until it gets its way. Eventually, caving to this kind of thinking will end up with that ideology cannabilizing sports for one reason or another.. I.E. it's too male dominated or it's not accepting of women, gay, or trans players in equal amounts. We've seen it growing like a snowball. Too bad the NBA didnt have the balls to step away from it and say, politics are for the Feds, State, and Local municipalities. Instead they feed the narrative and reward the insanity.

Sports have played a major role in equality throughout history. I was proud of the NBA for doing what they did. If at the very least the NBA moving the All star game away from Charlotte brought attention to HB2 from a National level all the way to dinner tables across america. This is how you make non violent real change. It is a brave and honorable move by the NBA that wasn't completely motivated by money.
