Dwyane Wade Still Exercising $23.8M Option With Bulls Despite Butler Trade

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Jun 23, 2017 3:01 am

Despite the Chicago Bulls' trade of Jimmy Butler on draft night, Dwyane Wade will stand by his decision to exercise his player option worth $23.8 million.

Wade signed a two-year deal with the Bulls last offseason.

I think they rushed for a Butler trade hoping he'd opt out. Wade if he was ufa would not get 24m for 1 season but at worst would probably get Jamal Crawford money at 3 years 42M.

Whose paying Wade 42M for 3 years.. Sure there are worse contracts but thats silly too.. Wade was on the decline even when he teamed up with LBJ missing play off games.. Geez Miami were lucky LBJ was soo good to carry that team to two titles.. Bosh was also pretty damn good except for the last year..

What? Wade had like a 26 PER and the lowest PER he had was a 22. Just for comparison's sake Pippen never had a PER higher than 23.

I heard the reason Wade isn't opting out is cause he and the bulls already filed the paper work with the league that he opted in before he went on vacation in Paris where he met up with jimmy buckets. After it's submitted and approved by the league it's not reversible. I could see a potential trade maybe to LA for Luol Deng. With Wade already in La - the pitch to get Lebron gets ignited further.

The move is more feasible for bulls if they get Jordan Clarkson back for eating Deng's albatross deal - they can send rondo's contract that has a $3m buyout to lakers. If this goes down lakers would have wade's bird rights and max cap space for up to 3 max players next summer. Ingram and Ball are on rookie deals while Randle will have a low cap hold if lakers defer any potential extension.

No need to trade Wade. Bulls need a reason for people to go to the games now.

Magic is going to trade Clarkson & Deng (albatross) for Wade & Rondo ($3M buyout by June 30)

- This deal would just further ignite the lebron speculation after David Griffin firing - lakers would have enough cap space for 3 max guys in 2018 and Wade's bird rights

- Ingram and Ball are on discount rookie deals while Randle will be a rfa with a low cap hold in 2018

- Lakers would actually be even more entertaining with this starting 5

PG - Lonzo Ball
SG - Dwayne Wade
SF - Brandon Ingram
PF - Julius Randle
C - Brook Lopez

- High likelihood many teams would drop their Paul George pursuit and lower pacers asking price when a situation like this is available next summer in his desired market.

- Lebron has a no trade clause so he can just wait a year before he bolts

- The deal is similar to the Russell deal where you give up an asset in Clarkson to get rid of an albatross contract in Deng. While also getting a starter caliber player like Lopez in this case Wade on an expiring deal for the short term.
