Wolves Expected To Sign Jeff Teague In Free Agency

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Jul 1, 2017 12:03 am

The Minnesota Timberwolves will pursue Jeff Teague in free agency and at least one rival team believes he's already committed to signing.

According to sources, the New York Knicks are no longer pursuing Teague in free agency as they're convinced he's already committed to the Wolves.

The Wolves traded away Ricky Rubio to the Utah Jazz and the widely reported expectation is they have a commitment from a free agent point guard.

Move would make sense for them, Knicks would have as well, wonder where they turn for a PG if Rubio/Teague/Holliday are gone as they appear to be as soon as midnight hits.

Tampering does not exist. Only bad GMs can be caught with that.

Anyone not in the organization (including players) can talk to players.
One team player can easily talk and "negotiate" with other players prior to FA. this happens all the time.

all it takes is the player go back to his team and tell GM that player X would join if he is offered $yM on z years
and we have a informal deal.

All without the GM to ever talk to player X or his agent

Now ... I think the league should include players as tempering too. As they are the ones architecting all those super teams ..
As for example Paul George already recruiting players (under contract) to a team that he is not even in ...

As if the tampering rules aren't hard enough to enforce as is.

Who cares if any of these side conversations happen before or after July 1? Actually having formal meetings with teams and signing contracts before July 1 absolutely needs to be a 'no.' But informal talks between players, prospective new teammates and representatives - who cares?

George Hill would make more sense.
