Cavaliers Believe They Could Have Turned Irving, Love Into Chris Paul, Paul George

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Jul 21, 2017 10:55 pm

The Cleveland Cavaliers believe they could have turned Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love into Chris Paul and Paul George in June.

Cleveland kept both Irving and Love in June as they were unaware Irving would soon be requesting a trade before the end of July.

Paul orchestrated an opt-in and trade from the Los Angeles Clippers to the Houston Rockets before the start of free agency.

George was traded on June 30th by the Indiana Pacers to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

If you can upgrade Kyrie and Love to Chris Paul and George you do that regardless of what Kyrie intentions are.

When LBJ leaves you hanging every 1 or 2 seasons with these little contracts? Absolutely. Although it depends if the GM is betting long or short on his team which is a tough spot and counter intuitive to his responsibilities.

And yet they dont mention who in their front office believed that. If they could've traded Love for George then it wouldve happened being that they've tried to trade him for over a year now. Therefore, This is likely nothing but conjecture, trying to put blame On Kyrie instead of their continuously poor decision making.

I can't imagine Chris Paul even considering the Cav, so its safe to assume this is also blind assumption from their behalf.

George and Chris Paul are better short and long term pieces either way you look at it though. Especially with the Cavs knowing that Kyrie might want out.

CP3, PG and LBJ would be 7 games with GS every year.

Thanks for the honesty.

I think your missing the point... Kyrie would have been traded for PG.. Kevin love would have been included in a three team trade which sent assets back to the clippers in a sign and trade to fit CP3 under the cap..

You really think CP3 would not be interested in playing on a contender with his banana boat pal Lebron James...

Come on man clearly you have not though this through very well...

As for Blame this is on Dan Gilbert if he had kept Griffin Kyrie would have been able to communicate his wishes earlier and they would have made it happen..

As it stands I would just hold onto Kyrie have a great season and try to make the ALL NBA team and then offer him supermax.. Maybe he turns it down maybe not...

This would have been a simple trade...

1) Kyrie outright for PG
2) K Love to a third team for some assets to send back to clippers for CP3 in a sign and trade they would have accepted because what else could they get if CP3 had wanted to head to the cavs which if LBJ had been hell yeah this would have happened.

How is it counter intuitive.. The goal should always to be to win Championships if you have a chance you should press the go button and the future should not matter.. Unless you do a dumb Brooklyn nets deal for washed up KG and Paul Pierce... But CP3 and Paul George are still playing near the top of their game so the go button should have been pressed they would have made the Finals and pushed GSW then the next year you keep the band together...

Its counter intuitive to trade long term assets for a guy ( PG ) you know will leave after a season when you're not absolutely sure that he will give you a better chance at winning a title.
