Kyrie Irving 'Tired Of Hearing About What LeBron Needs'

Kyrie Irving agreed upon a five-year, $90 million max extension with the Cleveland Cavaliers 10 days before LeBron James returned to the franchise.

At that time in 2014, Irving reportedly "didn't particularly care for James to return to Cleveland."

After three straight trips to The Finals, Irving no longer wants to play alongside James.

“Kyrie isn’t saying he’s better than LeBron and should be seen that way,” a close confidant of Irving’s told ESPN. “He’s saying he’s not about to let LeBron ‘SON’ him … treating him like he’s the child and LeBron’s the father or big brother he’s supposed to look up to.

“Kyrie knows he’s a franchise-caliber talent. He wants to be treated like it. And he’s tired of hearing about what LeBron needs, and he’s damn sure tired of hearing LeBron sound like he always needs more. As if the crew they have isn’t enough.”

Don't know what's true and what's not but this dude is coming across as a jealous girlfriend.

Why have that attitude? Just play out your contract and bounce.

Steven A. Smith really has no legitimate sources, and whenever he gets information, he overplays it a hilarious amount; here is the run-down of the situation.
Domejandro wrote:Kyrie's trade request stems from multiple factors, primarily those of LeBron James' lack of long-term commitment, the lukewarm treatment LeBron gives teammates (and how his comments regarding them are often times made public), as well as the poor treatment of David Blatt (who he was close to). There are many more factors than that, but those are three very solid ones. Kyrie was also irritated that he was able to work so easily with David Griffin on solving his private trade request and his wishes were being accommodated (the trade rumour to get Paul George and Eric Bledsoe to Cleveland were fully legitimate), but the rug was completely torn out from under him by David Griffin not being retained (and Dan Gilbert being uncomfortable with LeBron James staying long-term). Dan Gilbert being frustrating throughout this process with his consistent low-balling of future prospects for the Cleveland Cavaliers' General Manager position and non-committal attitude to reaching a resolution with Kyrie is what led to the escalation of this becoming public.

This has nothing to do with "star power", but rather a situation in which: Kyrie Irving felt it was time to move on for a collection of reasons, he reached an agreement with the front-office that did an excellent job accommodating for both himself and the team, the rug was completely pulled out from under him, he received no explanation on the future plans for the situation, and the situation was made public because of it.

Watching people continually pile on Kyrie Irving for a variety of reasons that are completely fabricated is absolutely painful.

Unbelievable... And these guys have been to the Finals 3 straight years. Go figure.

I would be dreaming right now if the Knicks made the Finals once in my life.

Always love these "close confidants" of players. Same ones who will drain them of every dime by the time they are 40 and have them living back at mom's house.

In any case, it would be no surprise. Kyrie was a failure as a "franchise level player". And now his ego is writing checks. Still in some ways this is what you "want" as the NBA. Having a major star turn out to be a beta wanting to bandwagon with all the cool kids in "lemme join lemme join" fashion has been a disaster in Golden State. But having egomaniacs acting like rebellious teenagers and all wanting to run off and "establish their own brand" is how the league is supposed to be protected from superteams staying together.

Dude u wrong. He is right because if lebron leave, he will be stuck with players lebron hand picked and not really a team build to win. If you are a star u too will be upset about owner only asking lebron for any inputs while u left on the side wondering. Would management count on me for other than hitting the winning shot of the only ring cavs ever had?. If James Jones would be the one batching then u have a point but kyrie ain't no scrub. If u wanna count on me to beat golden state then do so in players moves as well as special treatments

So he's throwing a fit? Is it that difficult to wait for another year?

Reminds me a bit of the Kobe-Shaq divorce. I think of some of the jackasses I've had to work with over the years and this is laughable. A stronger mgmt/coach would be able to handle this and keep the team together. Having said that, I don't blame Kyrie for feeling like Bron-Bron's little brother. I too often find Lebron's sense of entitlement annoying. Kyrie is in for a rude awakening though, Let's see him get to the finals 3 years in a row without the King.

I can agree with the last part about LeBron always, and I mean ALWAYS, complaining about not having enough players around him the past year or so. He's had great help since joining Miami and again in Cleveland round 2.

I'm quite on this matter because its that alarming and understanding both. were not hearing any of this from kyrie mouth so its all just a bunch of ppl talking and nobody is getting the full truth. I wondered back in 2014 how irving felt about LeBron coming back myself when he signed. the cavs weren't going anywhere at all but I bet they would have gotten better and more pieces by now if LeBron hadn't come back. you gotta look deep into these situations and it could be something that small. kyrie seems like a player who wants to be the guy.

I think what hes trying to say is hes happy what LeBron brought to the team but hes run his course. its the little things. like LeBron running dion waiters off the team. demanding them to bring in superstars when he felt himself and LeBron with love and Thompson and waiters and the others were enough. iriving loves winning with LeBron but just grew tired of his attitude and constant whinning.

kyrie is a straight forward player. he doesn't rely on flopping and complaining for every call. look at Tristan Thompson and how he fights with LeBron all the time. I thought he was about to fight him as much as he goes back in fourth with him. kevin love is quite but he wasn't getting looks much until last season. he goes missing for moments. I really don't know what to say. they both need each other if you ask me.

but if LeBron really is leaving then kyrie might as well pack up now and go. it kinda is a LeBron built team. I never hear about who kyrie likes to play with. or even love. there both important players as well. this is about there general manager situation and kyrie not being in on everything. when they tried to trade him for George I'm assuming he flipped. the rumor must be true that LeBron asked for kyrie to be involved in a trade. LeBron is used to d.wade those two are 10 years apart in age and kyrie is from a generation where he really isn't willing to settle into a minor role. wade wasn't either. he just was injury prone and getting older so he let LeBron take over. once bron seen wade was aging he bolted back to Cleveland to form a new big three which I'm sure he thought would be better.

Good. Why should Kyrie kiss Lebron's ass? Lebron is about dip and Cleveland will be stuck with a bunch of **** contracts he lobbied for his boys.

At least now I know I'm not the only one who thinks LeBron James and his crew behave with this sense of entitlement and arrogance that rubs people the wrong way. If you listen to Richard Jefferson's podcast he basically suggests that he and the rest of the team feels the same way as Kyrie Irving as far as having to wait on LeBron's decision to re-sign or not before they can begin planning the next steps of their careers. It wasn't in so many words but basically he was saying this

Kyrie is correct the Cavs are his team, he was there first and won allstar game mvp the year before and he also outplayed the league mvp as well and hit the game winner in his face. Something Lebron was not able to do for them.

Not Even. He's had to be in Lebron's shadow for the past few years, and Lebron essentially speaks for the Cavs and what he wants. It's never about how KI or Love feel. It's all Lebron and after being thrown under the bus by not being considered a great team by Lebron, which implies Irving and Love are just okay players, Irving seems even more tired of being treated like an underling to Lebron.

I'm sure KI enjoys winning, but Lebron seems to care more about what he wants and not others around him.

You and Kyrie are that one kid who always loses and then takes the ball home so no one else can play - there is no game winner without LeBrons block

Sure it is as Kyrie hit a 3 pointer.

Because a lot of players followed lebron there. Put lebron on the 2013-2014 roster, just lebron with kyrie and it would be absolutely ****.
