Knicks, Rockets Resume Carmelo Anthony Trade Discussions

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Aug 10, 2017 9:28 pm

The New York Knicks and Houston Rockets have returned to the negotiation table on a deal centered upon Carmelo Anthony. The two teams are seeking a third party to help facilitate a trade.

Anthony will only waive his no-trade clause for the Rockets and refuses to expand his list.

If the Rockets get rid of Anderson in the deal the bannana boat is happening next year. Bet that

Melo would opt out after this year, take a small paycvut. Cp3 the same. Bron would sign and trade with cleveland. Wade takes the minimum or he cant come lol

The Knicks are a disaster, but there is still hope they are smart enough to know that trading Melo for anything but short term contracts and picks, is just another step backwards. Ryan anderson is a one-dimensional player with an albatross contract (20 mil a year? ahahahaahahah) and does nothing to improve the immediate product, the future cap space, or the chances of building a winner with a young core.

Houston alone has little the Knicks can use in straight up value, but if you twisted my arm, any trade starts with Zhou Qi, Clint Capela and probably a Trevor Ariza throw in--and you would still need a third team to make the salaries work...

Qi, Capela, Porzingis, Hardaway at least is a clear indication the team is in rebuild mode, leaving the Knicks with the task of finding a true/star point guard.

if ryan anderson came to NY in the deal it would be an absorption of his contract for picks.

LOL Melo and paycut or opting out of ~$30 million. Wake me up when he waives the trade kicker. $tay Melo!

The Knicks aren't winning anything but hopefully the lottery for the next 3 years anyway. Maybe they make the playoffs in 19-20 after they get 2 lottery picks. I'm not that opposed to taking on **** salary. It's not like Anderson is Josh Smith, he'll be a pro and maybe some contenders injury makes him tradable. If the Knicks got back a potential top 10 pick and a young player I'd eat Anderson, otherwise no thanks. Not sure where the Rockets could farm a decent pick or a decent young player in a 3 way trade.

Exactly. Bring Anderson in if it means picks/young solid players are going to NY. Take on a few **** contracts if it means promising players/picks

What would happen if Melo just walked away from New York and started playing for the Rockets.

Has there ever been an instance in any sport where a player was sued by the organization for failure to abide by the terms of his contract or act in bad faith performance of the contract when the player plays poorly during trade rumors or a trade request? If the Knicks don't trade Melo and he comes back and slacks off and sucks, I would think that the organization would have a claim against the player for bad faith or breach of contract. Is there anything in the CBA that prohibits this? If not, I'd like to see it happen. I'm sick of all these Prima Donnas that back out of contracts or ask to be traded. They agreed to the deal, which apparently they thought was the right decision at the time because they signed it. Just because the player changes his tune or improves his play throughout the contract does not change the fact that the contract was signed.

There's this piece of paper called a contract that says no.
