Magic Johnson Subpoenaed In Draymond Green Civil Suit

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Sep 20, 2017 4:21 pm

Magic Johnson has been subpoenaed to testify as a witness in a civil lawsuit against Draymond Green.

Green is being sued by former Michigan State football player Jermaine Edmondson alleging a 2016 assault.

Edmondson's attorneys want to question Johnson about a tweet he posted following the incident.

Johnson wrote that he had a conversation with Green, and “he was very apologetic to the Warriors organization, fans and everyone involved.”

Green was arrested but avoided jail time and paid a fine as part of a plea deal.

I guess it shows you don't need brains or maturity to win championships in basketball. Between Donkey and Durant you couldn't find 2 bigger and more immature idiots.

Cue all the butt-hurt Dub haters

Never got the hate for the Warriors.

Play the right way? Check
Decent character? Check (Draymond is debatable. His stuff is nothing vs NFL crap)
Fun to watch? Check
Good for the NBA? Check

- Steph Curry made "skill" cool again. Before Steph, dudes glorified athletic freaks like MJ and LeBron.-
- Draymond shows what grit, bball iq, versatility, competitiveness and leadership can lead to. One of the most versatile players ever.
- KD just wanted to win after being the loyal good guy in OKC (blame Lebron for stacking teams)
- Klay shows what not needing his ego stroke 24/7 looks like. He understands it's about rings not the spotlight.
- Iggy has sacrificed time and again to make the engine go
- Lacob is a top 3 owner in sports
- Bob Meyers is a top GM
- Steve Kerr is a top coach

They are the standard that other teams should emulate. Only losers hate winners.

It's amazing the amount of hate vs a team that plays BASKETBALL the RIGHT way. More teams are embracing passing and ball movement more than ever. Embracing unity and chemistry more than ever. Thank the Dubs for that. You're welcome, NBA.

The Warriors made it look good, the Warriors made it cool again. Steph Curry made shooting cool again. Steph Curry isn't an athletic freak, he's a high skilled player. When you go to the gym now you got dudes trying to be Steph Curry, not high flying Michael Jordan or Vince Carter. Curry brought back attention to SKILL and craft. I'm talking about players coming up, how they have already affected basketball culture. Of course they're not the first, but they're the latest. Look at the change in offensive strategy after the Warriors. Are ya'll blind or just don't have any logical responses?

You implied more teams are sharing the ball because of the Warriors, at the end of your GSW gushfest. That's basically insane level homerism. ALL good teams of the past shared the ball etc.

The do play the right way. They are a great team. etc etc. But saying they promote ball movement among other teams is like saying some team that scored a bunch of touchdowns in the NFL has made scoring touchdowns a thing. It's silly.

What am I going to say to someone who thinks I need to present an argument for why MJ has no business being called an athletic freak as opposed to a guy with skill????

I don't have anything to say about what you said, other than what I said. Meh. Its fairly true (except for Draymond and leadership- just cause you talk to much doesn't make you a leader). But what you said about MJ makes it look like you got some serious homer goggles on for the warriors.

You people are pretty bad at comprehension. More teams ARE sharing the ball because of the Warriors, even the bad ones.
More players are training to be better shooters because of Steph. Did I say "in the last 100 years"??? Holy crap. The NBA has trends. Are you trying to tell me that iso ball wasn't heavily dominate before the Warriors? The Spurs were an anomaly, and no one copied them, because it was "boring".

TD's is dumb comparison. A better comparison would be STYLE OF PLAY like types of offenses, running vs passing, etc. And the NFL has the same types of trends.

Ok... so MJ wasn't an athletic freak? Vince Carter wasn't an athletic freak? There wasn't a trend to be "the next MJ", which often translated into guys trying to do a bunch of 1on1 moves then dunking? MJ wasn't a guy who averaged 10 assists a game, he was a scorer. Then best iso scorer ever. Did I say MJ sucked? LOL. It's about style of play. The Warriors HAVE brought back (notice I didn't say "invented") a fun style of play, ball sharing, ego-less high bball iq basketball. Anyone with a set of eye balls could see that.

You're pretty bad at observing the history of basketball. Good teams share the ball. Maybe minus the horrible era where the Pistons slowed the game down and then Cleveland and the Knicks and other teams decided to run set plays and run the clock down to 4 seconds before shooting on every possession. And even then there were teams that ran and shared the ball, like Cellabos/Johnson/Marley\Barkley era Suns and others.

Basic youtube search. Call it what you want.

As for numbers, MJ career assist is 5.2 vs steph's 6.8 (who is the pg on this ego less ball sharing team) best career year for MJ 8 ast vs Steph 8.5. I can't believe I just had to do this. Its obvious you've only watched ball of this era, which is fine. Just quit talking about things so surely.

Wow my original post still going over your head. I'm talking about RECENT history. I'm talking about TRENDS. The warriors have IMPROVED trends and style of play to RETURN to more team-ball focused eras like the 1970s and 1980s. That's the point. They are helping to bring GOOD BASKETBALL back -- and made it cool again -- like the Lakers and Celtics did. The Spurs are the "boring" Spurs. The Warriors have actually had a bigger impact because upcoming generations are seeing what team-play looks like and will emulate.
