Connie Hawkins has passed away at the age of 75.

Hawkins earned All-NBA First Team honors as a 27-year-old rookie with the Suns, averaging 24.6 points, 10.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists per contest.

Hawkins was an All-Star for four straight seasons with the Suns before being traded to the Lakers during the 73-74 season.

Hawkins was voted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1992.

I loved watching Hawkins play, and his 1-on-1 match against Paul Simon on Saturday Night Live was legendary -- set to "Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard." Almost impossible to find online these days, sadly, but fortunately I downloaded it years ago.
