Jordan Brand Discontinuing Carmelo Anthony's Signature Shoe

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Oct 11, 2017 4:11 am

Jordan Brand is discontinuing Carmelo Anthony's signature shoe after 13 models.

Anthony has continued wearing the M13 during preseason and it's expected he'll wear a combination of shoes from the brand this year.

Anthony's signature line ends as the fifth longest in NBA history, behind only Michael Jordan (32), Kobe Bryant (17, across Nike and Adidas), LeBron James (15) and Allen Iverson (14).

Anthony will remain a key endorser for Jordan Brand.

Russell Westbrook also wears Jordan Brand.

Nothing beats the shoes from the 90s (looks wise).

If this doesn't tell Melo he is the third option I am not sure what will. This has to be a huge hit to Melo's massive ego.

I haven't looked into it, but I imagine Melo will be the only person among the list of names in that article to have his signature shoe end its run while he still playing. My how the mighty have fallen.

Congrats Melo, that is quite the distinction.

I have never seen someone wearing "Melo's" on the ball court, so this move seems strictly business. I would bet that Klays "ANTA" shoes sell more lol

He'll get another deal. Rookies get shoe deals. Melo will have a new deal soon I'm sure.

I've never seen someone wearing Carmelo's shoes before. So I understand this move on many fronts.

What will be interesting is how long they wait to give Westbrook his own signature shoe. I imagine he is next up with Jordan Brand, especially given that his year last season was better than any Carmelo has ever had. Makes it kind of awkward taking the signature shoe from Carmelo and then giving it to his teammate in Westbrook, so I wonder how long Jordan/Nike will wait.

He's still on the Jordan Brand (Nike). It is just that he no longer gets his own shoe. He's like many other players now in that way.

there are exactly 4 players who I have ever known to have signature shoes:

Jordan
Marbury (price)
curry (design criticism)
ball (ridiculousness)
the donald, always unpopular, did worse in EVERY state in 2020. and by a greater margin in red states! 50 independently-run elections, none of them rigged

I know nothing about sneakies but I know Kobe has had his own shoe for a while. Also Shaq because it was horrible.

Circa 2010, I definitely would see them on the court. Fell off the last 5 years for sure.

Sprewell's was hilarious. There are so many more... Shaq.. Payton, Grant Hill, I think Antoine Walker. EDIT: just realize the list is endless

That's a bummer. I had a pair of Melo M3s around 2007. I loved those shoes, they were so cool at the time.

think this makes ut more likely he opts in next yr, why opt out and take less from okc, not like they can use the difference to sign more players, just saying okc tax $
