Bulls Likely To Re-Sign Zach LaVine In 2018

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sun Oct 15, 2017 7:08 pm

The Chicago Bulls are unlikely to extend Zach LaVine before Monday's deadline but the team is expected to re-sign him as a restricted free agent in 2018.

The Bulls have expressed an interest in signing LaVine long-term but prefer to keep their financial flexibility for next offseason where he would have a lower cap hold, as well as determine how he looks coming back from a torn ACL.

“I want to be here for a long period of time,” LaVine said Sept. 25 at the team's media day. “If (an extension is) now or later, I know it’s going to be done either way.”

LaVine is expected to be cleared for contact in November.

Yes, re-sign a player who only cares about dunking. Give him the max and watch him blossom into the next Jason Richardson or Gerald Green.
My all-time starting five: Hakeem Olajuwan, Michael Jordan, and three 3nD role players.

I follow the NBA, not just one team.

Jason Richardson was in the league for like 14 years and had seasons where he put up 23/6/4. If Zach turns into him, I'd be happy. We'd still need another couple stars, but that would be a good result for Lavine.

He shot over 38% from 3 on 6.6 attempts. You think he only cares about dunking.. because he won a couple dunk contests? You're so smart.

And why are you acting like Richardson was a scrub?

What in the world are you talking about? Have you ever seen him play or did you just watch all star weekend and make assumptions from it?

I’m laughing more and more at the people who continue to claim Lavine is / was a better piece to build around than Wiggins.

Wiggins gets a bad rap because of the unrealistic hype he came into the league with. But we aren’t measuring him against that we are measuring him against Lavine. Wiggins only had the be the #3 guy for them now. Sure, he is overpaid but he is a damn good #3 options.

Are people saying that? I don't think you want either as your best player.

And Wiggins gets a bad rap because he just hasn't been very good.

Lavine is not a starter except on a bad team. And he does only care about dunking. Ie, he has that mentality. He's not suited to be a main piece of the puzzle and it will become evident. He was hiding behind the charisma of the Wolves youth core and it was never going to work out that way. As long as the Wolves went forward with a line of thinking with Zach as a core component, they were doomed. Trading him was the best thing that could have happened.

please explain how he only cares about dunking, he seems like a pretty decent scorer, and it's not just from dunking.

I'm assuming that the posters who claim Zach only cares about dunking are in their early teens. Therefore, they get a pass.
