Isaiah Thomas will scrimmage with his Cleveland Cavaliers' teammates for the first time on Friday.

"It'll be a practice, get some shots up, cover defensive rules and principles and also scrimmage a little bit so Isaiah can get a feel and play 5-on-5," Tyronn Lue said.

Thomas aggravated an existing hip injury in last season's playoffs and has been recovering from a torn labrum.

The scrimmage will take place at a high school in Napa following the Cavs' wine tasting excursion on Thursday.

Thomas posted a video of himself dunking last week. One Cavs source told ESPN that it was the first time he'd seen Thomas dunk since the team acquired him.

Thomas will be on a minutes restriction whenever he makes his debut.

I've been carrying him in my one IL spot on my money league fantasy team. I'm 8th out of 20 so far. Time for him to play and my team to step it up.

Cavs defense is about to drop significantly. I'll be surprised if I.T gives half of what he did last year. He is in a contract year though.

its hard to imagine LeBron figuring it out with him. Thomas will has to change alot of his game to fit leBron. im hoping it works.

How? I think of IT as more of a scorer anyways

Well, I mean his numbers will most likely dip from 28ppg to maybe 19ppg playing with LeBron. But efficiency is key. and he only shot over 45% last season.


I have a feeling LeBron knows how to use him, so let's wait and see.

FG% does very little to show how efficient a player is. IT was very efficient with a .625 TS%

The Cavs need him because Bron can't play at a 32 PER level every single week. He's going to have stretches where his shot isn't falling (like now) and thats where IT comes in.

Now you might say that Kevin Love has been scoring well so why couldn't he pick up the slack, etc. Love isn't a creator. The Cavs offense requires creative points and they've been relying on LeBron and Wade for that to start the season, but both guys have hit a cold spell. IT can come in and hold the fort down while LBJ and Flash get their act together.
