It's a 10 day deal so that means about 4 or 5 games plus practices. If he gets arraigned during that time, he'll be missing a chunk of the time and a team will only get two 10 day deals before they make a decision on keeping the player permanently.
It makes sense to back off and let him deal with his **** before possibly signing him once the legal disruption is over so they can evaluate him more consistently while he is in a better frame of mind.
