Celtics Reluctant To Trade First Round Pick, Prefer Buyout Market

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Feb 5, 2018 11:25 pm

The Boston Celtics are unlikely to give up any of their first round picks in a trade for what would likely be a short-term rental due to the presence of the Warriors.

The Celtics will likely wait to explore the buyout market after the deadline.

Boston prefers to keep their first round picks for a larger scale move down the road.

The Celtics have stronger interest in Tyreke Evans than Lou Williams.

Of course they are... :-?

Gutless move if they are indeed trying to wait out the Warriors.

Smart front office. Don't be like the Pels mortgaging your future for short term, marginal gain. They've got a good young core who are already ready to produce so they should keep building on something sustainable.

Magic could do a trade of:

Payton, the 2020 protected 1st and Mario for Smart and the lakers 1st

It's not gutless to want to lose a controlled asset for a guy who will bail in a few months, is made a little redundant by others in the market, and may not even be on the floor the majority of playoff games. I'm fine with waiting out Memphis or LAC and see who's around for nothing.

This pick should be no longer known as the Laker's 1st. That ship has sailed.

Thing is, are they trading Smart?

Then how would you describe it? Is it not the pick that was originally owned by the Lakers?

Considering it's going to end up being Philly's late 1st in 2019, I kinda like "The One That Got Away".
