J.R. Smith Threw Bowl Of Soup At Damon Jones

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Mar 2, 2018 3:58 pm

J.R. Smith received a one-game suspension from the Cavaliers for throwing a bowl of soup at assistant coach Damon Jones.

Jones has been back with Cleveland since 2014 and worked his way up from an assistant coach with their G League affiliate to a trusted assistant to Tyronn Lue.

Rodney Hood started for the Cavaliers in place of Smith.

Smith will return to practice with the Cavaliers on Friday.

LeBron's veteran presence certainly makes the difference there...

It's JR Smith, he's so high he has no idea what's going...

Of all the players in the league that have played at least 2500 minutes, JR Smith has the second worst PER over the last two seasons. He barely finished ahead of dead last, Stanley Johnson. Johnson is 8.2 and JR Smith is 8.3. Nik Stauskas has a PER of 9.2...

This guy has been hot garbage since he signed his extension, but history already showed that was what was going to happen anyways.

I'm curious what kind of soup - I mean, if it's a thinner broth soup like Chicken Noodle or Minestrone, you could have some serious burns. A creamy soup like Cream of Mushroom or Cream of Broccoli may not have been as hot, while a purée soup might be cooler than that. If we're talking Gaspacho, it's hardly even worth a slap on the wrist.

You can't have players assaulting coaches. I would have suspended him rest of season.

So many questions. Did he throw the bowl and the soup? Did he use the bowl to throw, the way you'd splash water in someone's face? Where did the soup hit Jones? Was it scalding hot?

In the real world pretty sure this qualifies as assault should the target press charges.

Well there is a 39.2% chance that he hit him with it.

This story needs more context. JR looks nuttier than the average joe but I mean, who throws a bowl of soup at someone? Pretty sure there's an unwritten rule about not doing that, like kicking a guy when he's down or farting aloud on the first date. As a society we need to draw the line somewhere. No one wants to wear Campbell's chunky on their shirt, that's just disrespectful.

What I want to know is if the bowl actually hit him or if he bricked.
